JOLANTA SOSNOWSKA Polish violinist Jolanta Sosnowska possesses a unique fusion of versatility, strength, and sensitivity in both her playing and stage presence – a combination that is earning her the acclaim of audiences and critics alike. She has been described as volcanic, instinctual, and totally committed. Jolanta comes from musically talented parents, an organ virtuoso and a violinist. She begun playing the violin at the age of six. Jolanta graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Music Lyceum and the Frederic Chopin Music University in Warsaw in the violin class of Prof. Mirosław Ławrynowicz. She undertook her second Master’s Degree, having received a Scholarship, at the University of Illinois in the United States, under the tutelage of Prof. Sibbi Bernhardsson. Having become a winner of The Paul Rolland Memorial Violin Competition, she received the Rolland String Award. Jolanta continued her musical education at the Conservatory of Vienna with Prof. Werner Hink. Further study at the Early Music Department of the Conservatory with Professors Ulrike Engel and Gunar Letzbor. Thoughtfully & gradually Jolanta built a repertoire, establishing a direction and development of her exceptional talent. Jolanta’s knowledge and expertise of Baroque, Classical, Romantic & Contemporary violin allows her to interpret each composer’s intent with remarkable intuition & sophistication. Jolanta’s performances in Europe, United States, Peru, Mexico & Japan have received critical acclaim and audience appreciation. As a zeallous proponent of Polish Romantic and Contemporary works, few recently discovered, Jolanta has played and recorded Premier Performances of these compositions. Some of the recent original works were created and dedicated to her. Having become a finalist and winner of several violin competitions has opened many European concert doors. As a soloist, Jolanta performed at the renown Austrian Baroque festivals such as the Austrian Resonanzen 2012 in the Viennese Konzerthaus and the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik 2012. Jolanta enthusiastically participates & collaborates with numerous Baroque and Chamber Music ensembles such as Ars Antiqua Austria, Harmoniae Suavitas, Altomonte Ensemble, Ensemble 1765, Pandolifs Consort, Cambiata Wien and La Certa Basel. Concert tours have led to number of performances in Concertgebouw Bruges for the Musica Antiqua Festival, at the Vienna & Berlin Konzerthaus and the Prinzregententheater in Munich. Jolanta has recorded concerts, CDs and documentaries for the Austrian Radio ORF, Polish TV Trwam and labels like the Megavox, Sony Classical, Pan Classics, Deutsche Grammophon. In 2011 Acte Prealable released the World Premiere CD recording of the Romantic Violin and Chamber Works of composer Zygmunt Noskowski played by Jolanta Sosnowska.
