Monday 13th October – 11.00 – 16.00 Tuesday 14th October – 15.00 – 17.00 150 Years on Kildare Street History of Medicine Research Award Help us celebrate 150 years of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland’s home at No 6 Kildare Street by joining our guided tours of the building at 11:00, 13:15 and 15:00. See how architecture students would re-imagine No 6 Kildare Street if they were designing it today, as we display entries to our Design and Ideas Award for Architecture Students. Now in its fourth year, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland’s History of Medicine Research Award promotes new research in this developing area. Four shortlisted researchers will present their findings. The winners of this award and the Design and Ideas Award for Architecture Students will be announced at the reception following this event Monday 13th October – 16.30 and 17.15 Cookery Demonstrations: Healthy Meals in 15 Minutes The Irish Times food writer, cook and ITSA founder Domini Kemp will demonstrate how to introduce healthy food into your busy schedule. Monday 13th October – 18.00 – 20.00 Public Meeting: Looking After Your Health & Well-being Let our experts help you to make better choices about your health and wellbeing. GP Dr Ciara Kelly will chair a lively discussion with Prof Mick Molloy, Dr Anne Jeffers, Dr Ross Morgan and Ms Domini Kemp who will talk about exercise and how to keep your mind and body healthy. Tuesday 14th October – 10.00 – 15.00 Heritage Centre Lectures: Architecture, Design & Medicine This series of lectures explores the interplay between medicine and architecture, both today and 150 years ago when the College’s home at No 6 Kildare Street was built. Topics will include the design of No 6 Kildare Street, medical architecture in 19th century Ireland, as well as recent projects and research including the award winning Limerick Medical School and the design of dementia friendly environments. Tuesday 14th October – 18.30 – 20.30 Musical Event: Synaptic Serenades – Musical Narratives of Stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease Join us for the first complete performance of these three works composed by Ian Wilson. He was the composer in residence at the National Centre for Arts and Health, Tallaght Hospital Dublin, in collaboration with the Department of Geriatric Medicine and the Stroke Services at Tallaght Hospital Dublin. This event is in partnership with the National Centre for Arts and Health, Tallaght Hospital Dublin, with performers from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
