Robert Kessler is a composer, sound designer and producer/director of voice recordings
through his company Kessler Media Productions, Ltd. He composed the theme music for
President Clinton’s Grammy Award-winning title MY LIFE and produced and directed
the Grammy Award-winning title STILL ME with Christopher Reeve and the Grammy
Nominated title BELOVED with Toni Morrison. Over the past twenty-five years, he as
worked with some of the most celebrated actors, authors, and political figures of our age.
He served as sound designer for the Academy Award-winning animated film BUNNY, as
sound editor and mix consultant on both The American President and The Road to 9/11,
both for PBS. For film and television, Kessler contributed as sound recording engineer
on Blue Sky Studios productions of “Ice Age, ” “Robots,” and “Ice Age II,” Disney
Animation’s films “Bolt,” (narrated by John Travolta) and “Tarzan II,” (narrated by
Glenn Close), Vanguard Animation’s “Space Chimps,” (narrated by Stanley Tucci),
Ang Lee’s “Pushing Hands,” and on the PBS documentaries “The Buddha” and
“Mustang –Journey of Transformation” (both narrated by Richard Gere). Kessler also
served a sound editor and mix consultant on ”The American President, a 10-part series
for PBS, and “Radio City: The Story Behind the Showplace,” for AMC.
As a composer, Robert Kessler and his music partner Ethan Neuburg provide original
music for “Freedom: The History of US,” a 16-part PBS series, “America’s Heritage,” a
PBS documentary; “Voyager: The Grand Tour,” for NASA; and “Little Miss Spider: Lost
and Found” for Callaway & Kirk, narrated by Susan Sarandon. They have composed
music for CBS Network Sports as well as a three hundred piece music library for Harper
Audio.
Robert Kessler has recorded, mixed and mastered several independent classical, folk and
jazz albums including Playscape Recordings “The Three B’s (Bill Evans, Bud Powell and
Beethoven) with award-winning jazz pianist Ted Rosenthal, Reservoir Studio
Productions all Chopin offering with internationally acclaimed pianist Eduardus Halim,
and “From Sorry Free” and “Hoping It Might Be So” by the vocal ensemble Charis.
Prior to forming Kessler Media Productions, Kessler worked for the New York City
Opera, ICM Artists and Carnegie Hall. He holds a master of arts degree in arts
administration from New York University and a bachelor of arts degree from Vassar
College where he majored in music, emphasizing performance, composition, history, and
theory. Robert Kessler studied jazz piano with Jaki Byard and Andrew LaVerne.
Ethan Neuburg has been writing music with Robert Kessler for over 25 years. As an
arranger, Mr. Neuburg has worked with hundreds of composers and songwriters
including Quincy Jones, Dave Brubeck, Madonna, James Taylor and John Williams.
