COSTS
The initial costs of Orthokeratology are greater than those typically associated
with traditional glasses and contact lenses but significantly less expensive than
Lasik surgery.
Since corneal molds can last for as long
as three years, the ongoing cost of
Orthokeratology is less than that of
traditional contact lenses that need to be
replaced much more frequently.
Just think, you won’t need to incur the
ongoing cost of backup glasses or
continue to buy disposable soft lenses
saving you $300 to $700 each year.
Convenient and affordable interest free
financing is available.
TESTIMONIALS
“Dr. Vergin suggested Ortho-k as an
alternative as our daughter was needing
new lenses almost every 6 months. Now
her vision is back to 20/20 and we don’t
need to worry about bent, scratched, broken,
or lost glasses.”

What is Orthokeratology?
Orthokeratology or Ortho-K:
Orthokeratology is the process of reshaping the eye
with contact lenses. Wouldn’t it be great if your
nearsightedness could be corrected while you sleep?
It might sound farfetched, but it’s a reality for those
who use Ortho-K.
Here’s how it works:
Ortho-K lenses work by gently reshaping the
curvature of your eye with therapeutic contact
lenses that you only wear during sleep. When you
wake up, you remove the lenses and enjoy clear
vision all day long. It’s that simple! The effect is
temporary lasting one to three days, so you must
wear the special lenses each night.
Ortho-K, Not a New Idea:
At New Vista Eyecare, we understand you might
be skeptical since you probably have not heard
much about Ortho-K. We are one of the few
practices in Wisconsin specializing in this treatment.
Ortho-K has been performed since 1962, but now
space age technology has taken over. New materials
available for mold design and the computerized
instrumentation for mapping the cornea make this a
precise treatment and much more successful than in
the past. The FDA gave its approval in June, 2002.
In the past, Ortho-K could take 3-6 months to
complete. Now, with Wave Ortho-K lenses, most
patients are 20/20 after their first night.
Ortho-K Technology:
The Scout topographer is the ONLY process in the
world in which the unique topography of each
patient’s eye is used as a template for a one-of-akind contact lens design. This is a painless digital
picture of your eye that is much like a topographical
map of the earth except this map shows the hills
and valleys of each unique cornea.
Dr. Vergin uses a Scout
topographer to capture up to
14,000 unique data points of
the cornea. This “fingerprint”
is then used to design one-ofa-kind custom Ortho-K
lenses. Then a CNC lathe
precisely cuts the lens after
the CAD/CAM process.
Results are often immediate.
Frequently, patients achieve excellent vision with their
naked eyes after the first night of molding and within a
few days most patients maintain clear vision for the
entire day.
The corneal change induced by molding slowly
regresses in one to three days. This simply requires
that the molds be reinserted at night for the patient to
retain their optimal vision.
Unlike Lasik, Orthokeratology is available to all age
groups. Currently our youngest patient is 9 years old,
Ortho-K could work for you! Call today for a FREE
consultation! (A fee may apply for a complete eye exam only if one has not been performed in the last 6
months).
Nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism, which cause
light to focus in front of the retina, results in blurry vision.
Ortho-K refocuses light on the retina to give you clear vision.

Why Should You Choose Ortho-K
with New Vista Eyecare?
Clear eyesight when you awake at night or in the
morning.
Convenience and comfort of clear vision without
glasses or daytime contact lenses.
Research proves Ortho-K helps slow down or stop
vision from progressively getting worse in children
(LORIC study, CANDY study).
Great for active children in sports like swimming,
tennis, soccer, and active adults at work and play.
You do not have to worry about eyewear/contact
lens damage or loss when participating in sports.
There are no more blind spots caused by frame or
lens edges.
Wear all the trendiest non-prescription fashion
sunglasses.
Lasik cannot be performed on children under 18
years of age and/or on eyes with an unstable
refractive error. Orthokeratology can be performed
in both of these cases.
When an Orthokeratology patient turns “40 something” and would typically require bifocals, simple
modifications in Orthokeratology design or wearing
schedules can eliminate that handicap.
Orthokeratology is about half the cost of laser vision
correction. Also, many patients who are not good
candidates for Lasik can be corrected with Ortho-K.
Orthokeratology provides relief for most patients
who have difficulty wearing contact lenses due to
variable vision, dry eye, and astigmatism.
Ortho-K frees the individual from the distractions
caused by perspiration, dust, wind, weather and
temperature.
People in occupations that are hindered by the use
of glasses or contacts may be good candidates for
Ortho-K, e.g. pilots, policeman, firemen, trainers,
athletes etc. Be sure to check with the regulations
of your employer prior to undergoing Ortho-K.
