The Free Braces Program (ALSO KNOWN AS “MEDICAID” ) is available
for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families patients under age 21. For questions regarding coverage of other
insurance plans please contact the doctor’s office directly.
The process of arranging for free braces
(MEDICAID PROGRAM)
1) First involves finding an orthodontist that accepts the program. Some states on our list do not have
any orthodontists on it. Families must contact a dentist on the list and through the dentist's office
attempt to get the name of a local orthodontist that accepts the medicaid program.
2) Once the location of a local participating doctor is obtained, patients must make an appointment at
that orthodontist's office and the doctor's examination will determine if the patient meets the state's
criteria for the Free Braces program.
