ENDOCRINOLOGY AND DIABETES
IN DIAGRAMS AND PICTURES
Author an Editor: Emiliano Corpas, M.D., Ph.D.
and more than 35 contributors
Continuous updating e-book of quick consultation for practicing clinicians and for pre and
postgraduates teaching
46 chapters and a section of diagnostic and therapeutic protocols, which cover the most important knowledge
areas of endocrinology and diabetes. Chapters are made in a systematic and visual manner with variable length
from 30 to 140 pages (slides), an index, and a rating of knowledge and references. The book is composed of
more than 2800 (800 of diabetes) patterns of text schemes, tables, figures, algorithms, clinical guidelines, as well
as many original illustrations and digital images of patients and diagnostic tests. Most contents have been
developed by the author-editor in more than 25 years of clinical and teaching activity. In addition, more than 35
authors are collaborating now in specific areas of endocrinology or other related specialties. Most chapters have
been reviewed by different members of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology or other medical scientific
societies. The annual subscription is individual. Each subscriber will have a key and a password. Downloading
and printing by the subscriber is unlimited in PDF format with "watermarks." In addition, the subscriber may
download images or patterns without "watermarks" for presentations, with a limit of 100 per subscription year .
Registration fee is 220 euros per subscription year. Marketed and managed by the Web site of the Foundation

This e-book is the basis of an educational program of clinical endocrinology and diabetes,
now in Spanish that will be published in English in a near future. It is not a conventional
textbook of endocrinology. The main objective is to provide a quick and easy guide for the
clinician practicing in the field.
This publication has its origin in information processed and kept by the author-editor in
more than 25 years of undergraduate teaching in medical school and graduate at different
groups of doctors.
At present, the book consists of 46 chapters, over 2800 slides (over 800 of diabetes) with
a section on diagnostic and therapeutic clinical protocols. Each chapter has a variable length
from 30 to 140 schemes of text and images, an index and is ranked by the level of knowledge to
be transmitted. Although most of the educational material has been developed by the authoreditor, there are over 35 authors collaborating who are contributing their expertise in specific
areas of endocrinology. So, contents have a multidisciplinary character and a clinical practical
orientation with their pathophysiological and pathogenetic basis. Each chapter is written to
review comprehensively each endocrine disorder. Chapters are composed of text schemes,
diagnostic and treatment algorithms, clinical guidelines and numerous original illustrations and
digital images from both patients and diagnostic tests (echo, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine
imaging). Most chapters have been reviewed by several members of the Spanish Society of
Endocrinology or other scientific-medical societies, on request of the author-editor.
The e-book is created with the clear objective of continuous updating and enrichment.
The author-editor, advised by an editorial board, is responsible for updating and directing
contents and reviews. Several authors are being invited to participate in specific clinical issues,
in some cases more specialized, which will be added as new chapters, written using the same
pattern of comprehensive reviews, teaching schemes, algorithms, cartoons and images. Others
4 chapters are programmed to be published in the following year.
The e-book is published on-line in flash-player format in the web site of the Foundation
for Health Research and Training in the Region of Murcia (“Fundación para la Formación e
Investigación Sanitarias de la Región de Murcia”; www.ffis.es), which has considerable
experience in teaching and research in health. The Web site is responsible also for the
management, marketing and distribution of this e-book. Access is on-line, and all subscribers
must respect the current regulations of copyright. They will be able to print and downloading the
chapters, but every slide shall appear with a water-mark. Membership is by individual fee, paid
annually. In future, institutional and biannual subscriptions will be available.
Contents of the book are the basis for courses and training accredited updates in
Endocrinology and Diabetes for doctors, to teach in the near future.
Some contents of the educational program are being published on the author-editor Web
site (www.endocorpas.com) which includes a section for professionals and another for patients.
Access to both sections are free. This site contains detailed information on the e-book, some
protocols and clinical guidelines, a demo chapter.
In summary, this endocrinology e-book intends to be a schematic and quick reference
guide for any doctor facing either patients with endocrine disorders or medical teaching in the
field of endocrinology. It is also written to be a reference book for medical students. The work
reviews the more frequent endocrine diseases in a comprehensive but schematic and visual
manner and the practical format permits easy updating and expanding.
ENDORSEMENTS
The e-book is endorsed by Sociedad Española de Endocrinología y Nutrición (SEEN;
Spanish Endocrine and Nutrition Society) and by Sociedad Española de Ginecología y

serves as Consultant at the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit, at the “Hospital Universitario de
Guadalajara” since 1982 and he is Associate Professor of Endocrinology at the “Universidad de Alcalá”
for over 25 years. He graduated from the “Universidad Complutense de Madrid” and completed his
residency in Endocrinology at the “Hospital de la Princesa ” in Madrid. In 1988, he took his doctorate
degree from the “Universidad Autonoma de Madrid” on a cross-sectional study of aging in healthy
population of Guadalajara. He has been a Medical Associate of National Institute of Health of the U.S. in
the Gerontology Research Center, and a Visiting Scientist in the Department of Medicine of Johns
Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore for 3 years. In that time he was involved in the endocrinology of aging,
particularly in the study of the hypothalamic-pituitary GH axis. He is the author of several original papers
and reviews in national and international journals. He has been medical advisor for some
pharmaceutical corporations. He has been exercising private practice as specialist of endocrinology and
