Lisa Weiss & DaMuSiCa
© Lé Giesen
With her first album Lisa Weiss directly shows her soul. Nothing stays hidden. This Sintezza does
not hold anything back and she lets her heart speak freely. Her search for her roots is long, painful
and sad and gives her liberation. Her disarming songs and music tell stories about passion and
love.
Sinti seldomly speak about pain, sadness and great
silence that happened to them. It stays hidden in the
hearts of people, their lips are sealed. The self chosen
isolation, sadness, loneliness, nights which drag up
everything… In the wagons and near by the fires the
sadness and the loneliness are chased away by singing
and dancing. Passionated, liberated and with an
unbridled energy and flows of happyness and joy, they
forget what struck them.
Martijn Alsters played a very important role at the start of
Lisa Weiss studio album. Lalla Weiss and Lizzy Schäfer
helped her with the songtexts in Romanesch. At this
moment she is working on several new songs and we
hope that she will not let us wait for a long time for her
second album.
Lisa Weiss performs with a small cast as well as with her
permanent band DaMuSiCa. The beginning of her
performances are often theatrical and soon she knows
how to touch her public and to lead them into her
ecstasy. Very special are her performances in her small,
intimate and atmospheric theatre Marianum in Venlo.

Here she also invites other interesting musicians, with
whom she feels a tie of kinship. The design and
decoration of this theatre Marianum is Lisa Weiss’ own creation. This creative woman is multitalented.
From one side the songs of Lisa are melancholic as the sadness and pain of the past is sung in
Sinti-Romanesch. From the other side a tremendous energy emerges with whipping and liberating
music.
