Alexandrite Laser (GentleLase)
Botox is a prescription medicine that is
injected into muscles to temporarily improve
the appearance of moderate to severe frown
lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive
procedure that improves and rejuvenates the
skin by using concentrated light to stimulate
the deeper tissues of the skin. Patients will
see significant improvement in redness,
brown spots, freckles, fine wrinkles and poor
skin texture from sun damage and rosacea.
Common treatment areas include the face,
neck, chest and hands. There is no downtime
for this treatment. A series of 2-4 treatments
is usually necessary for optimal results. For

GentleLase can be used for laser hair removal
as well as for treatment of pigmented lesions
(dark spots.)

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers reverse the sagging and volume
loss caused by aging and sun damage by
adding volume to treated areas. Among the
most effectively treated areas are the
nasolabial folds (smile lines), around the
mouth, lips, cheeks and under the eyes. One
treatment will give the patient smooth and
natural looking results lasting up to a year.

Chemical Peels
Peels are a non-invasive way to immediately
resurface and improve the health of the skin
with minimal downtime. Peels are
recommended for skin rejuvenation,
treatment of brown sun spots, fine wrinkles,
acne and acne scarring. Peels can be
performed on the face, neck, chest, hands,
arms, and upper back.

Laser Skin Services
Lasers can treat a variety of skin conditions

Pigmented Lesions:
The laser targets the dark color in the
pigmented lesions which causes destruction
of the pigment. Dark spots initially turn
darker and then shed off after approximately
one week.
Hair Removal:
The dark pigment in the hair shaft is targeted
and destroyed with this laser. Usually three
or more treatments are required at each site
to achieve permanent hair growth reduction.
Darker hair responds best to laser, while
lighter hair (white, gray or red) is less

Vascular Laser (VBeam)
The laser treats redness in the skin due to a
variety of conditions, such as rosacea,
angiomas, capillary malformations or
birthmarks, and warts. The laser targets red
blood cells which in turn damages the vessels
and causes them to breakdown and be
reabsorbed by the body. Patients may have
redness for a few hours up to a few days if
bruising occurs. Treatments are usually 4-8
weeks apart and one or more treatments
may be necessary depending on the
condition being treated. See back of

dermatologist who specializes in adult,
pediatric, cosmetic and surgical
dermatology. Dr. Pickup attended the
University of Cincinnati College of
Medicine. She completed her residency
at UC and also served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Pickup enjoys caring for the whole
patient from general skincare to diagnosing
skin cancers to helping patients maintain
youthful appearances. Dr. Pickup has
special interests in ameliorating sun damage
and treating rosacea patients who have no
other choices but vascular laser to treat their
condition. Dr. Pickup feels that her patients
are more self-confident after receiving
treatments. The treatments offered by Dr.
Pickup, especially the laser procedures, are
ideal for both males and females, and even
children. These treatments provide patients
