STAKEHOLDER’S ORIENTATION on the DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION of CLIMEX.db for JRB 09 July 2013, Hotel del Rio, Iloilo City, Iloilo Dr. Enrico Paringit, a Climate/Disaster Risk Assessment expert responsible in the development and implementation of the Climate/Disaster Exposure Database (CLIMEX.db). The development and implementation of an Exposure Database on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction (CLIMEX.db) is an important pre-requisite in the conduct of disaster risk assessment (DRA) and the Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment (VAA). Both DRA and VAA are valuable inputs for the CCA/DRR-enhanced development plans, e.g., Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Comprehensive Development Plan as well as the Contingency Plan(s). The Stakeholder’s consultation was attended by representatives from Regional Line Agencies of Region 6, academic institutions in Iloilo and pilot LGUs surrounding the Jalaur River Basin. The Multi-stakeholders’ Consultation/Experts’ Group Meeting on CLIMEX.db held in Iloilo City on 09 July 2013 at the Hotel del Rio, was attended by 36 representatives from different local stakeholders – 13 from the LGUs (PLGU-Iloilo, Passi City, Municipalities of Pototan, Zarraga and Calinog), 12 from Regional Line Agencies in Region 6 (HLURB-WV, OCD, EMB, MGB, DILG, DOST, CHED and DepEd) and, 11 from the local academic partner institutions (University of the Philippines – Visayas, University of San Agustin and Central Philippine University). The Stakeholders’ Orientation / Experts’ Group Meeting on the Development and Implementation of the Climate and Disaster Exposure Database (CLIMEX.db) focused on two most important aspect: Presentation of the Project focusing on the linkages among the different components and how exposure database is used as inputs in the Project outcome, and; Development of the Exposure Database o Introduction to Exposure Information o CLIMEX.db Exposure Database o CLIMEX.db Structure, Schema and Organization o Proposed CLIMEX.db Implementation Dr. Jake Tio, Consultant Technical Advisor of Project ReBUILD provided further clarifications and responded to queries of the participants. The methodologies in the development of the Exposure Database was produced under the Project Climate Twin Phoenix, a Project currently implemented in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro by the Climate Change Commission.
