A Case Report of Allergic and Supurative Dematitis Treated with
MEBO
Kai-Zhao Lu
[Abstract] August, 1991, author admitted a case that applied “Flos Carthami wine” on
both aching lower limbs and had induced erythra, then, had gradually forming large
area of impetigo on both lower limbs. Fever for 10 days before admission. Besides
infections on both legs, scattered red plaque on both upper limbs, abdomen and
perineum. Body temperature reached 39℃, total leukocyte count and neutrophils
elevated, Staphylococcus aureus cultured from topical secretion. 5 days after
topically applied MEBO and general treatment, general condition improved.
Hospitalized for 12 days then discharged with the lesion completely healed.
As the development of MEBT, application of MEBO grows wider. Not only applies to
burns, trauma, furuncle, carbuncle, anal fissure, hemorrhoid, ocular conjunctivitis,
purulent tonsillitis, cervical erosion, etc., MEBO also obtains satisfied therapeutic
result in dermal disease. Our department cured a drug allergy induced impetigo in
August, 1991 with satisfactory.
Case Information
Patient Mr. Yue, male, 30 years old, admission serial 107769, aching on both lower
limbs a month before admission, applied “Flos Carthami wine” and led to erythema,
itching, and gradually turned into impetigo with pain, fever for 10 days before
admission. Examination: Clustered coalescence of purulent plaque on both legs,
with escharation and desquamation, pyogenesis beneath scar, erythema at the base
of desquamated area, purulent secretion spread all over the leg, which was similar to
Ⅱ degree burns. Red plaque and scattered papule on both upper limbs, middle
abdomen and perineum, body temperature 39℃, pulse 120 bpm, WBC 9.3×100/L,
NEU 76%, topical secretion culture indicated Staphylococcus aureus.
After
admission, applied MEBO on the lesion every 3 hours, removed secretion promptly,
at the same time, intravenous infused antibiotics, and dexamethasone. 5 days later,
general condition improved, thus, discontinued general treatment but topically applied
MEBO. Hospitalized for 12 days and then discharged with complete cure. (See

Discussion
Drug induced dermal allergy is an often seen allergic disease. It is special
immunoreaction that belongs to cell immunology. Antigen-antibody reaction leads to
vasculitis that increases capillary permeability and fluid exudation. In case of
infected, leads to topical pyogenesis and general infectious symptoms, sever one
might lead to toxemia or septicemia. In traditional treatment, besides general
medication, topical soaking, topical administration of antibiotics, corticoids and
astringents, topical debridement, changes dressing or dresses. We applied MEBO
with MEBT and obtained satisfied result.
1. MEBO can make drainage unobstructed from the skin damages, can increase
topical blood flow, can improve microcirculation, thus, can reduce inflammation
and can control topical inflammatory exudation as well as infection.
2. Because of unobstructed topical drainage, blood flow increase, microcirculation
improvement, therefore, increasing topical metabolism, enhancing topical nutrition,
strengthening topical tissue immunity and improving skin damages. As a result,
applied MEBO treating allergic skin damages, not only treating manifestations but
also treating pathogenesis.
3. The fact indicates that MEBO as therapy in certain dermal diseases worth
promoting, especially obtains significant result in infectious dermal damages.
Because of insufficient cases, the further mechanism to dermal damages
remained to be discussed during applying.
