Playing The Pick Five
50¢ Minimum & 15% Takeout
The PICK FIVE is a wager in which you attempt to select the winners of five consecutive races, placing your
bet before the first race in the series of five goes off. With a 50¢ minimum and a low 15% takeout, the PICK
FIVE at Prairie Meadows offers a realistic opportunity for a big payoff with an affordable bet!
HOW TO READ THE CHART: This is an abbreviated chart displayed to give you an idea of how the cost of
the wager increases as you as add more horses in each race and increase the number of combinations on
your ticket. Using the minimum 50¢ bet rate to calculate: 24 = $12, 36 = $18, 96 = $48, 192 = $96, etc.
FOR EXAMPLE: Let's say you want to play 1 horse each of the five races. Your total bet cost is 50¢.
If you want to play 3 horses in each race, your total bet is $121.50 If you want to play 5 horses in each race,
your total bet would be $1,562.50.

The Easy Way to Calculate Your Pick 5 Bet Cost
Naturally, if you play the Pick Five, you may want to play
different numbers of horses in each race, rather than always
playing 1, or 2, or 3 horses in each race.
Using 50¢ as the base betting unit, here's how to calculate the
total number of bets (combinations) and the cost of a ticket.
Simply multiply the number of horses you want to play in each
of the five races:



2 horses x 2 horses x 3 horses x 4 horses
x 2 horses = 96 bets = $48
1 horse x 3 horses x 1 horse x 5 horses x 1
horse = 15 bets = $7.50
2 horses x 3 horses x 3 horses x 1 horse
x 4 horses = 72 bets = $36
