1. Updating the PT-962 OS Image Memory card
(1) Copy the XIP.BIN files to a (CompactFlash) memory card.
a. GuideLines
First Format the Card.
Copy the NK.BIN file to the memory Card
Then use the Eject option to outsert the card, software-wise, from the PC/Laptop
The eject hardware wise from the PC/Laptop.
(2) Insert the CompactFlash memory card into PCMCIA slot in your PA962
(3) Plug power adapter to PA962.
(4) Check whether the Power is really operating by checking the icon in the System
Tray
(5) When upgrading the OS of PA962, clean the Registry duplicate prior to upgrading
the OS. Start the RegistryTools in the Utility folder
This is important otherwise after the upgrade the old Registry will be set back leading
that the information on the OS will also display the prior version, which can cause
problems to arrise later.
(6) Run \Utility\BootMode.exe from PA962 by clicking Start, Programs, File Explorer,
and double clicking the Utility folder. Locate and then double click BootMode.exe.
(7) Press “Cold Boot”
(8) Confirm the next message window with YES
(9) Press the 0 key and keep it pressed
(10)The Bootloader menu is shown.

Enter selection:
If the OS to which you want to upgrade also requires the Bootloader to be upgraded
then be sure the EBOOT is copied to the Memory Card.

(11)Press “ 3 “ Key The new OS will download to PA962.
(12)The Bootloader Menu will remain, at the bottom line the progress is reported like
Reading, Writing
(13)When the process is finished the bottom line will indicate “Need to Cold Boot”,
select “ 5 “ key.
After successful upgrading the PA962 will Cold Start and the Welcome screen will be
displayed.
Important note:
If you found error message “CF card not found on socket 0”, please re-format your CF
card as “FAT” file system (Do not format as FAT32)
and repeat the steps to upgrade again.
