Innovation Maritime and UQAR
sign a partnership agreement
Rimouski, March 23, 2016 - Innovation Maritime and the Université du
Québec à Rimouski have signed a partnership agreement aimed at
developing collaborative scientific and educational projects in the
maritime field.
This is the first formal agreement between the two institutions. “This
strategic partnership reinforces our commitment to develop synergies
between our institutions based on the reciprocality of our activities. Joining
our expertise will provide an impulse to the development of scientific and
applied innovations, as well as the deployment of innovative teaching
formats for the maritime sector,” commented the Vice-Rector for Education
and Research, François Deschênes.
A liaison committee of six representatives from Innovation Maritime and
UQAR will be established to stimulate collaborative research and training.
“This agreement will enable us to improve our positioning and our mutual
interventions in Quebec, Canadian and international research initiatives, in
relation to maritime engineering, transportation and navigation,” said the
CEO of Innovation Maritime, Sylvain Lafrance.
In addition, the agreement will enable researchers and personnel of
Innovation Maritime and UQAR to make use of the facilities of both
institutions. It also involves the reciprocal involvement of both Innovation
Maritime and UQAR personnel in the development of education programs
of both institutions.
