PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release Innovation Maritime and UQAR sign a partnership agreement Rimouski, March 23, 2016 - Innovation Maritime and the Université du Québec à Rimouski have signed a partnership agreement aimed at developing collaborative scientific and educational projects in the maritime field. This is the first formal agreement between the two institutions. “This strategic partnership reinforces our commitment to develop synergies between our institutions based on the reciprocality of our activities. Joining our expertise will provide an impulse to the development of scientific and applied innovations, as well as the deployment of innovative teaching formats for the maritime sector,” commented the Vice-Rector for Education and Research, François Deschênes. A liaison committee of six representatives from Innovation Maritime and UQAR will be established to stimulate collaborative research and training. “This agreement will enable us to improve our positioning and our mutual interventions in Quebec, Canadian and international research initiatives, in relation to maritime engineering, transportation and navigation,” said the CEO of Innovation Maritime, Sylvain Lafrance. In addition, the agreement will enable researchers and personnel of Innovation Maritime and UQAR to make use of the facilities of both institutions. It also involves the reciprocal involvement of both Innovation Maritime and UQAR personnel in the development of education programs of both institutions. About Innovation Maritime Established in 2001, Innovation Maritime is an applied research center active in the fields of maritime transportation, navigation, naval engineering, marine safety and security, environmental technologies and professional diving. Attached to the Institut Maritime du Québec, Innovation Maritime is a member of the Trans-tech network, composed of the technology transfer centres of Quebec colleges. Innovation Maritime has successfully completed over 300 projects since its inception.
