Oil of Wild
Oregano
Dr Lesley Braun writes ...
Naturally, wild oregano oil has broad spectrum
antibacterial activity, much like an antibiotic drug.
This has been demonstrated in multiple test tube
studies. For example, it stops the growth of the
main bacteria responsible for food poisoning and
travellers diarrhoea (E.coli) and a common bacteria
involved in many skin infections (S.aureus)2.
It also has antifungal activity and is effective
against the yeast Candida albicans which is the
fungus responsible for vaginal thrush. The oil
has also been used to treat intestinal parasites.
This is supported by a human study which found
that treatment with an emulsified form of the oil
eradicated most of the infectious agents after
six weeks3.
Due to its many different effects, wild oregano
oil has many varied uses. It has been used orally
for respiratory infections such as sinusitis and
the common cold, allergies, ear infections and
arthritis. Sometimes it is applied topically to treat
conditions such as acne, athlete’s foot, dandruff
and insect bites.

JOURNAL APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY
The antibacterial, antiseptic action of plant oils has been
described in recent medical literature and may be helpful in
fighting biological toxins.1 One study showed that oregano
completely inhibited the growth of 25 germs such as
Staphylococcus aureas, Escherichia coli, Yersinia enterocolitica
and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.2 Oregano has been shown to
be effective in eradicating intestinal parasites in humans.3
ANTIBACTERIAL STUDY FINDINGS
Findings of two studies presented at the annual meeting
of the American College of Nutrition held this month in
Orlando, Florida, revealed that oil of oregano is as effective
as pharmaceutical antibiotics at killing bacteria.4
Oil of oregano at relatively low doses was found to be
efficacious against Staphylococcus bacteria and was
comparable in its germ-killing properties to antibiotic
drugs such as streptomycin, penicillin and vancomycin.5

HISTORY
The name Oregano is derived from the Greek ‘oros’ meaning
‘mountain’ and ‘ganos’ meaning ‘delight’. The most potent
medicinal Oregano grows wild in the Mediterranean region.
Oregano has been used for medicine and food preservation for
thousands of years. During the Middle Ages Islamic doctors used
oregano spice as well as the essential oil as a germ killer. Over the
centuries oregano has been highly touted as a remedy for a wide
range of lung conditions, including asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis,
sinusitis, and cough. In his 17th century manuscript Britain’s Gerard
described how oregano was the ideal remedy for head colds.8
OREGANO - USED IN BIBLE TIMES
Cleanse me with hyssop and I will be clean. (Psalms 51:7)
It is a Biblical medicine, and few people realise that wild
Mediterranean oregano is the original Bible hyssop.
This implies that it may have been used since the time
of Abraham or perhaps earlier.9
MANUFACTURED TO THE HIGHEST STANDARD
ANTIFUNGAL PROPERTIES
Oil of Oregano outright destroys all varieties of fungi and
yeasts, regardless of where they reside. Even the mutants
succumb to its aggressive antiseptic powers. The fact is
fungi have nowhere to hide.6
POTENCY
Wild Oil of Oregano is a potent health aid. Its
pri
primary active ingredient, Carvacrol, when
lab
laboratory tested, proved to be one of the
st
strongest antiseptics known to man.7
Solutions 4 Health Wild Oregano is produced from ECOCERT
Certified Organic WILD Oregano (Origanum vulgare), hand picked
in the pristine Mediterranean wilderness. The full spectrum of
active compounds from these wild-crafted Oregano leaves are then
extracted using a very effective but natural, gentle process. The main
active ingredient in Wild Oregano is Carvacrol. During processing
each batch of essential oil is numbered and then analyzed using
Mass Spectrograph and Gas Chromatography. This rigorous testing
assures that only the correct species of edible Oregano with high
Carvacrol content is delivered to you in our Oil of Oregano. We
ensure our essential oil is pure & unadulterated. The complex
synergy of natural plant chemistry is left as nature intended resulting
in a high Carvacrol content of near 80%. Extra virgin, cold pressed
olive oil is then added as a palatable carrier.

Wild Oregano suggested dosage:
1-5 drops under the
tongue or in juice
3 times daily or as
required.
Start with lower
dosages.
Use more sparingly
with children. Apply a
drop or two to soles of
feet rather than under
tongue.
Use topically as required.
Avoid sensitive skin areas
and eyes.
Drink 8 glasses of pure
water daily to help
flush toxins from the
system that may result
when Oregano oil
kills pathogens such
as bacteria, fungi and
parasites.
Caution: If symptoms persist consult your healthcare
practitioner. If pregnant or breastfeeding consult your
doctor prior to using. Avoid contact with eyes and
sensitive areas. Patch test on skin before use.
