VERMINOUS ARTERITIS PROTOCOL
(WORM ANEURYSM)
1: 5 days of PANACUR dewormer (once daily) (10% fenbendazole)
- Panacur liquid suspension - 50 ml (cc) once daily for 5 days (orally or on feed)
(this is the dose for average sized horse (900-1100 lb)…….adjust volume for size of horse)
2: Wait 7 days.
3. 5 days of PANACUR dewormer (once daily) (10% fenbendazole)
- Panacur liquid suspension - 50 ml (cc) once daily for 5 days (orally or on feed)
4. Wait 7 days.
5: Give single dose of QUEST dewormer
6: Wait 10 days.
7: Give single dose of QUEST dewormer (or QUEST PLUS if have not dewormed for
tapeworms in the last 6 months….if Quest Plus is unavailable regular Quest is fine)
8. A full osteopathic treatment can be given, (at the earliest), a week after the 2nd Quest dose

This is recommended to support the digestive system during this time
1: ** Prebiotics / Probiotics to support the beneficial micro-flora (yeast and bacteria) in the gut*
PROBIOplus by Herbs for Horses, or Probiotic 8 by Omega Alpha
2: Avoid any vaccines during this time, as they are an additional challenge to the immune system
(80% of the immune system is located in the lining of the intestines!)
3: Maintenance deworming can include Quest twice a year, early spring and late fall (with a
Quest Plus in late fall) and an Ivermectin type dewormer in the middle of winter
