DMK MelanoZone Treatment
DMK MelanoZone Treatment (MelanoZone) is a treatment program designed to revise
undesirable pigmentation.
Pigmentation can make us look prematurely aged and feel
self conscious about our appearance. Genetically darker
skins are typically more prone to pigment imperfections,
but all skin types can be affected.
At DMK, we have a successful history in the reduction of
undesirable pigmentation. MelanoZone uses the DMK
concept of REMOVE, REBUILD, PROTECT and MAINTAIN
to effectively revise pigmentation disorders anywhere on
the face or body.
What is MelanoZone?
„„ Versatile. This program has been specifically
developed to suit the needs of individual clients.
It is compatible for all ages, skin conditions and
colours and can be used on any area of the face or
body. It is also extremely effective for addressing
smaller and more stubborn areas of pigmentation.
„„ Dependable. DMK have 40 years of experience in revising
pigmentation disorders in 27 different countries.
There are many causes of pigmentation, including
sun damage, hormonal imbalance and injury. Using
MelanoZone, it is possible to safely revise irregularities in
pigmentation and restore an even glowing complexion. It
is a versatile treatment that can be adapted to the needs
of each individual.
„„ Advanced skin revision. MelanoZone employs state
of the art technology to address all aspects
of pigmentation. DMK do not rely on a single crème
or machine. Instead, MelanoZone combines modalities
to ensure maximum efficacy.
By combining MelanoZone with a customised DMK Home
Prescriptive regime, DMK skin technicians can maximise
results and help prevent further pigmentation from
occurring.
How does MelanoZone function?
MelanoZone dissolves dark pigmented areas in order to
even out the skin’s colour. It utilises a range of specialised
formulations and skin treatments to permanently inhibit
pigmentation from forming.
melanoplex drops are utilised to help brighten the
complexion, as well as suppress and inhibit further
melanin production.
Enzyme therapy regulates and enhances optimal skin
functioning through improved circulation, oxygenation and
lymphatic drainage. It reduces inflammation and promotes
healing by strengthening the skin.
1
What is MelanoZone ideal for?
„„ Sun induced pigmentation on the face and body.
„„ Trauma induced pigmented scars such as acne.
„„ Stubborn patches of pigmentation.
„„ Skin prone to pigmentation such as Asian skins.
„„ Inflamed acne skins with pigmentation.
„„ Hormonal or any internal chemical imbalance.
Checklist for MelanoZone
1. A patch text must be carried out 24 hours prior to
conducting the treatment on all skin types.
2. Sign the appropriate consent forms. These vary
according to the purpose of the program.
„„ Medication induced pigmentation.
3. Take before and after photos so you can illustrate
progress to your clients.
Using MelanoZone, it is possible to safely revise these type of
pigment irregularities and restore an even glowing complexion.
4. Document any specific areas of concern on the
consultation form.
alkaline wash – a powerful skin revision tool
5. Explain the importance of sun protection when
revising pigmentation.
alkaline wash is a powerful skin tool for revising stubborn and
intractable skin conditions. DMK skin technicians should note the
following about its use:
6. Inform clients about the exfoliation procedure they
need to perform 3 days after their MelanoZone
treatment.
„„ alkaline wash should not be performed more than once every
two weeks.
7. Educate clients on the importance of DMK Home
Prescriptives, to protect and maintain results.
„„ alkaline wash must be used with caution when treating Asian
skin, as it can cause irritation and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
„„ alkaline wash must be used in conjunction with an effective
program of sun protection.
The client must read and sign a consent form before every course
of treatments. A new consent form is required if alkaline wash
is used for a different purpose, such as scarring instead of hair
removal, as the procedure and outcome may vary.
Clients should be educated on the importance of DMK Home
Prescriptives to protect and maintain results generated by
alkaline wash. DMK skin technicians need to prescribe
appropriate DMK Home Prescriptives for their client’s individual
skin conditions and concerns.

DMK Protocols
The building blocks for
MelanoZone treatments
Cleansing Protocol >
Pro Alpha #1 Protocol >
Removes impurities, excess oil, makeup and toxins from the
outside environment.
Hydrolyzes dead cell material drawing water up to the
surface, dislodging and pushing sebum plugs to the surface
and increasing dermal hydration.
1. Mix a pea sized amount of deep pore cleanser plus or
rinsing milk plus in a DMK mixing bowl, add water
and whip with a DMK fan brush into a light and
fluffy consistency.
2. Cleanse the skin using flowing circular movements,
starting from the décolleté and working your way up
the neck to cover the entire face.
NOTE: pro alpha #1 is NOT removed before applying the
unique transfer messenger enzyme formulation. enzyme
masque #1 and pro alpha solution work hand in hand to
improve skin functioning. pro alpha #1 pulls up free water
levels, while enzyme masque #1 moves the water with
reverse osmosis.
3. Remove cleanser with a warm, moist towel.

Dermatox Protocol >
Acts like a liquid magnet, drawing out and vaporising toxins
from the skin.
NOTE: Inform your client that they may smell strong odours
due to its vaporising effect. If you are going to use sebum soak
on the client’s skin, apply dermatox after sebum soak.
1. Pour dermatox onto a cotton ball and wipe over cleansed
face, neck and décolleté, staying away from the eye area.
Steam skin if desired.

3. Remove well with a warm, moist towel.
Melanoplex Drops Protocol >
Suppresses melanin production, minimizes acne infections
and brightens the skin.
NOTE: melanoplex drops have a stinging sensation when
applied after any resurfacing procedure.
1. Ice areas of acne infection, pigment or darker skin.
2. Blot the skin with a tissue, drop and spread melanoplex
drops onto the forehead, each side of the face and the
affected areas.
3. melanoplex drops will inhibit pigmentation, reduce
inflammation and help to kill infection.
„ Begin application on the forehead as this is the least
sensitive area. Using a cotton tip, apply a thin layer over the
brow, up under the eyes, down the cheekbone and onto the
chin. Apply on the nose with a downward stroke. Repeat
on the other side of the face and finish the application by
stroking downwards onto the neck and décolleté.
„ DO NOT ALLOW FORMULATION TO GET INTO THE
EYES, NOSTRILS OR THE CORNERS OF THE MOUTH.
These delicate membrane areas will become irritated if
they come into contact with the enzymes contained in
pro alpha #1.
2. Occlude with cling film and a hot towel for 5 minutes.
3. Blot the face with a tissue to remove excess from the
surface but do not remove the pro alpha #1 formulation
as it needs to penetrate the epidermis.
4. Apply enzyme masque #1 over the top.
3
Prozyme Protocol >
An exfoliation formula designed to remove the accumulation
of old, redundant dead cell material and pigmentation.
NOTE: Inform your client that they may experience hot, raw,
sore or itchy skin. Most clients experience a slightly sunburnt
feeling with some dryness and flakiness after a prozyme
treatment. This is more common with the first treatment. You
may recommend that they use ice at home for relief.
1. Preheat the skin with a hot towel.
2. Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of prozyme and aqua d’herbs to a
paste using a DMK prozyme brush.
„ DO NOT ALLOW FORMULATION TO GET INTO THE
EYES, THE NOSTRILS OR THE CORNERS OF THE
MOUTH. These are delicate membrane areas that will
become extremely irritated for several days if they come
into contact with the enzymes contained in prozyme.
5. Occlude with cling film and apply a hot towel.
3. Remove the hot towel and quickly apply prozyme to the
full face, neck or décolleté or to the areas being treated.
6. Alternate hot towels throughout the process – the hotter
the better.

7. prozyme can be left on for 5 to 25 minutes depending on
the amount of removal required. (Indian and Asian skins
only require 5 to 10 minutes. For first time clients, start
with 5 minutes on an Indian skin and 10 minutes on a
Caucasian skin.)

„ aqua d’herbs
Our most common mixer is a polarised water formula
containing hand soaked herbs. When mixed with
enzyme masque #1, this formulation is suitable for
2
all skins including thin, reactive and fragile skin. It
has the least amount of hydrolysing. You can use this
1
combination on a client who is using medication such
as Roaccutain® or Retin A.
„ exoderma peel plus
A multipurpose liquid gel derived from seaweed,
exoderma peel plus can be used directly on the skin as
a mini masque to lift off dry dead skin, or as an activator
when mixed with enzyme masque #1. It is very good
on reactive, inflamed, or dry, rough skin as it acts as a
microscopic exfoliator.
„ desquamate
Mixed with enzyme masque #1, desquamate increases
the hydrolysing power which breaks the surface tension
and removes additional dead cell material on thicker,
oilier skin. desquamate contains amino acids that sink
the enzymes further into the epidermis.
„ Start at the base of the décolleté, sweep across the chest
in a half circle below the collarbones and then up onto the
neck. Divide the face in half, stroking upwards and outward
on the jawline and moving up the cheek to under the eye.
Complete the circle taking the brush up on the forehead and
down on the nose.
„ DO NOT ALLOW FORMULATION TO GET INTO THE
EYES, NOSTRILS OR THE CORNERS OF THE MOUTH.
3. Leave the masque on for 45 minutes.
4. Soften the masque by applying a hot, moist towel.
5. Remove the masque by working a mix of warm water and
deep pore cleanser or rinsing milk into the skin using
circular strokes. You may massage with water to further
soften and remove with a wet face cloth. Repeat until the
masque is completely removed.
5
Alkaline Wash – Pigmentation Protocol >
Strong removal process for pigmentation.
NOTE: This protocol may only be used after training
and must always be followed by the Alkaline Wash
Neutralising Protocol >.
The nutrition process increases vital nutrients and moisture
at a cellular level.
1. Apply drops – melanoplex drops and/or pore
reduction drops.
1. Mix a small amount of alkaline wash with aqua d’herbs
in a small DMK bowl with a plastic spatula. The amount
mixed will depend upon the area being treated.
2. Apply serums – direct delivery vitamin c serum
and/or beta gel.
2. Apply gently to the area being treated. Avoid broken skin.
4. Spritz with herb & mineral mist.
3. Let the formulation sit on the skin for around 3 minutes,
giving the formulation time to change the skin’s pH and
swell the tissue.
5. Choose the appropriate finishing crème on the basis of
your knowledge about skin. Some options include acu
crème plus, crème citrique plus, pro amino crème
plus, biogen c crème plus and contraderm crème.
4. Don’t move it around as this may cause scabbing, but
keep it moist by lightly spritzing the formulation with water.
Be careful not to allow alkaline wash to run.
3. Apply oils – herbal pigment oil and/or seba-e.
6. Spritz with herb & mineral mist.
5. Gently remove alkaline wash with a small damp towel.
7. Infuse with a hot towel or cling wrap. (NOTE: Do NOT
infuse when performing treatments using alkaline wash).
6. After removal, check the skin’s colour and texture. It
should look shiny. If it still looks dull, repeat the process.
If it looks pink or inflamed, stop immediately.
8. Lock in the nutrition with hydrophilic crème and/or solar
damage gel.
7. Apply Alkaline Wash Neutralising Protocol >.
Alkaline Wash Neutralising Protocol >
Neutralizes alkaline wash and rapidly reduces redness
and inflammation.
1. Apply a film of exoderma peel plus to the area.
2. Leave for 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Apply ice over the top of the exoderma peel plus in a
circular motion using a tissue to soak up water run-off.
This will help to rapidly reduce redness and inflammation
caused by alkaline wash.
4. Gently remove the exoderma peel plus with a cool,
damp cloth.
6
Transdermal Finishing Protocol >
9. Finish with transdermal sunblock.
Mètier® Low Level Laser Protocol >
Alleviates inflammation.
Use the Mètier® Low Level Laser on any red or reactive areas.
This will help alleviate inflammation and increase the rate of
healing within the skin. Use the Mètier® in one minute intervals
and apply this every two square centimetres.
