Background
CD34 is a surface glycophosphoprotein expressed on developmentally early
lymphohematopoie c stem and progenitor cells with a molecular weight of about
105-120 kDa. It is selec vely expressed on the majority of hematopoie c
stem/progenitor cells, bone marrow stromal cells, capillary endothelial cells,
embryonic fibroblasts, and some nerve ssue. CD34 is a commonly used marker for
iden fying human hematopoie c stem/progenitor cells and mediates cell adhesion
and lymphocyte homing by binding L-selec n and E-selec n ligands. CD34 is also
one of the best nega ve selec on markers for characterizing and/or isola ng human
MSCs from bone marrow and other sources. Along with other posi ve selec on
markers (such as CD29, CD44, CD90, CD105 and CD166), nega ve selec on markers
(such as CD34 and CD45) are used for MSC iden fica on. This an body 14486-1-AP
is raised against 33-286 amino acids of full protein.
