Gaining insight
and the tools to be
successful
IOP is based on proven
practices that benefit
members in the group. Group
members are challenged to
look inside and gain insight to
their problem, including:
•
•
Understanding signs and symptoms of
dependency
Identifying the impact of substance
abuse
IOP also provides members with the
necessary tools to continue building their
recovery. This will include:
•
•
•
•
•
A Continuing Care Recovery Plan
Relapse prevention
Developing recovery goals
Building support systems
Encouraging healthy alternatives and
healthy relationships
Employers and probation may request
random alcohol and other drug
screenings, as well as progress reports
on members in the IOP group, provided
proper releases have been completed.
HOW TO BEGIN?
Prior to entering the group, an individual
must complete an initial screening and
assessment with a qualified professional
to determine the severity of substance
use and appropriate level of treatment;
Screenings and assessments are
available at all Sinnissippi IOP sites.
Frequently asked questions
about the IOP groups
How long will I need to
attend group?
The length of the program depends on
the goals set by its members. Typically an
individual can achieve their goals within
70-80 hours of treatment.
Will I be able to get my driver’s
license back?
Yes, provided you successfully complete
IOP and remain abstinent from alcohol and
all other illicit drugs. In that case treatment
verification will be sent. The program meets
requirements of the Secretary of State.
What other support services are
available following my
completion of IOP?
Following completion
of IOP, individuals are
encouraged to join
Aftercare, which meets
once a week and is
offered at various
Sinnissippi office
locations.
How much does it cost to attend?
The cost of IOP is based on a sliding fee
scale according to a person’s family income
and family size, insurance coverage and
other factors. Medicaid and private insurance
are accepted.

Sharon’s story
19 years in the making
My name is Sharon, and I’m a recovering
addict. I have been in the Intensive Outpatient Program for the past five weeks.
During that time I have remained clean, for
the first time in 19 years!
I’ve also learned a new way of thinking
and now feel like I’m in control of my life
for once.
I owe a big thanks to Sinnissippi Centers.
They have changed my life. This program
really works.
Thanks,
Sharon
