Salvatore Vasta
Born in January 1965
Married with four children
 Admitted to practice as a barrister in July 1990 and began prosecuting soon
afterwards
 Specialised in prosecuting sexual offences
 Have established a tremendous rapport with victims of crime especially
children
 Established the routine of having children testify in court from an outside
room, a practice that is now enshrined in legislation.
 Prosecuted highly complex cases for offences of murder, attempted murder,
malicious acts with intent, rape, maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship
with a child, armed robbery, fraud, drug trafficking and extortion.
 Specialised in prosecuting offences where mental health defences are raised.
 President of the Crown Prosecutors Association of Queensland (CPAQ)
 Active member of the Australian Association of Crown Prosecutors (AACP)
 Vice President of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).
 Deputy Chairman of Queensland Cricket and have sat on the Australian
Cricket Board
