PRESCRIPTION DRUG DISPOSAL
How do I dispose of unwanted or expired medications?
PLEASE DO NOT THROW MEDICATIONS AWAY
Medications can end up in the hands of children, animals or drug users. Drugs that make it into
the landfill can contaminate the soil and groundwater.

Drop off your unwanted and expired medication at local law enforcement agencies to be properly
destroyed. They accept all prescription, non-prescription, over-the-counter (pills, liquids, ointments or
lotions) including pet medications. Please make sure that the medication is properly sealed and does not
leak. They cannot accept syringes, asthma inhalers, drugs in aerosol canisters or chemotherapy drugs
in either IV liquid or oral form. Contact your pharmacist to dispose of these medications.
