Note the SUFFIX in the names of many long-acting or slow-release
formulations of medications.
When transcribing an order, always transcribe the full drug name with
suffix as written to avoid confusion between formulations.
Some examples:
Biaxin XL versus Biaxin
Diltiazem CD versus Diltiazem SR versus Diltiazem
Tiazac XC versus Tiazac
Sinemet CR versus Sinemet
