Product description:
Very small, fibre coupled laser module with high output power and circular beam exit. FC-UPC connector at
the end of the fibre (Pigtail).
Each laser diode is electrically isolated against the housing. Various drivers are available.
For operation, the module should be cooled. The optimum temperature range is stated in this information. If
the module is exposed to high temperatures, there is a possible risk of disintegration of the thermal glue,
and therefore a destruction of the laser module. At low power or short pulse usage, a passive cooling should
be applicable, as long as the housing temperature does not exceed the maximum parameters. For continous
operation, we recommend an active cooling with TEC elements. We also had some good results with
heatpipe coolers.

Bandwidth restriction
On the carrier board of the modul, a capacitor can be added, parallel to the source connectors, to restrict the
bandwidth of the laserdiode, and to absorp short voltage peaks. If the application requires short laser peaks,
this capacitor should not be mounted or removed.
Reverse protection
The carrier board also carrys a protection diode, to protect the laser diodes against reverse voltage. If a
reverse operation has taken place, the diode will most possibly burn out and create a short circuit. The laser
diodes are still protected, but the protection diode has to be replaced. Please note, that any kind of reverse
connection or operation immediately voids warranty!
Beam exit and cleaning
Due to a very high specific laser power at the exit of the fibre, the optical glass surface has to be kept clean
under all circumstances! Any kind of contamination guarantees for an immediatey burn of the fibre exit, and
a non focusable beam. A burn of the fibre exit is not covered by any warranty!
ESD Protection
The modules are equipped with a slight ESD protection, but is not fully protected against any kind of ESD
electricity. For transportation, the carrier board offers a short circuit bridge pad, which is bridged by
soldering, when shipped from factory. This is especially recommended on overseas transports. Before
regular operation, this short circuit bridge has to be removed, to avoid any short circuit operation
against the driver electronics.
Mounting on a heat sink
For longer or continous operation, the module must be mounted on a heat sink. We achieved very good
results with active TEC coolers, or heat pipe construction, such as processor coolers. The total power
dissipation of the module is approx. 20W max.
Make very sure, not to apply too much pressure on the diode module body. This could destroy the inner
adjustment, which is extremely sensitive. Use heat sink compound for a good thermal connection to the heat
sink, and mount the module very carefully and pressure free.
