ELECTROTECHNICS I
Course Unit Content:
Introduction to electrotechnics. The importance of the electrotechnics, electricity and information
technology. Brief history review. Atomic structure-Bohr model. Fundamental glossary. Simple directcurrent circuit. Basic laws of electricity. Intensity and density of electric current, types and
waveforms, measurement units, momentary values, measurements. Complex direct-current circuit.
Joule’s law. Electric power and energy. The flow of electric current through gases and liquids. Linear
and non-linear direct network. Electrostatics. Electric field: definition, types, show, electric field
intensity, Earth’s electric field. Surface, space and line charge density. Potential and voltage.
Capacitors: definition, capacity, construction, symbols, parameters, connections. Some insulator
characteristic.
Exercises 70%, lab works 30%.
Exercises are numerical and follow the lectures. Lectures include the use of sophisticated computer
programs. Lab works are performed in a real laboratory. The realization of exercises is described in
the lab sheets. They also include all needed explanations and conclusions.
