A choice species from China with luxuriant dark green foliage flushed bronze when young.
Clusters of pale creamy flowers with a hawthorn-like fragrance appear from early spring.
This is a vigorous climber capable of covering a large area, but may be kept compact by
pruning if required. It will perform best with a south or southwest facing aspect. In very
windy or exposed sites the foliage, especially the new young growth, may be damaged;
though regrowth will be rapid.
