Notes: Abstract: In this paper, the author lists the necessary conditions for the reintroduction of
lynxes and wild cats to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region (Italy). The conditions for lynxes are the
following: (a) attempt to solve the taxonomic-genetic-biogeographical problems of the original
Italian lynx forms, (b) evaluate the suitability of the reintroduction area in terms of habitat, food
supply, space, hunting, competitor species and other predators and (c) evaluate the impact on
autochthonous species of particular ecological, cultural and economic interest.
