OVERWINTERING STAGE: Egg.
PHENOLOGY: Multivoltine.
LARVAL HABITAT:
Larvae live in temporary rain-filled pools, drainage ditches and puddles.
HOST PREFERENCES:
Females prefer mammalian hosts. It is a large species that can inflict a painful bite.

COMMENTS:
This species is fairly widespread in the state, but is not particularly common. Larvae are
predaceous on other mosquito larvae and on various aquatic arthropods that share their habitat.
