Introduction
This Tech Note provides general troubleshooting to take when you experience connection issues using Factelligence 3.1.
Connection issues are common to the following areas:
Installing the License Files
Customer License
SI License
Connecting to the Factelligence Database
First Time Connection
Re-creating the Database Connection
Note: The FactelligenceCFGEditor and the licensing must to be done on the Middleware server or the PC that is running
the Factelligence Component Application and not just the Component Application proxy. The Component Application proxy
normally runs on the client PC.
Installing License Files
When attempting to launch the Configurator you see the following message:
F IGURE 1: COM ERROR
This is because no license is installed.
You will need to install the Factelligence license file. License files are either end customer license and SI license. Below you
will find the steps for both:
Note: The message may vary depending upon which Factelligence module you open.
Installing the Customer License
1. From the Start menu select Programs/Wonderware/Factelligence/Activate.

Installing the SI License
Copy or extract the CIMNET.DATand CIMNET.RES files directly into the Middleware folder located at C:\Program
Files\Wonderware\Factelligence\Middleware. This location is where the Factelligence Component Application is
installed. Do this on the application server and not the proxy.
