DISSERTATION AND THESIS:
Doctoral Dissertation:
GLP-1 expressing adult pancreatic ductal precursor cells established from acinar- to-ductal transdifferentiation reverse
streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats
Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, 2002-2007 (research advisor: Si-Young Song, M.D., Ph.D).
- These data indicate that the adult pancreatic ductal progenitor cells established from acinar to ductal
transdifferentiation can differentiate into insulin-producing β-cells and that the homing of intravenously transplanted
cells is possible. These results have implications for potential use of adult pancreatic stem cells in regenerative therapy
for diabetes patients.
Master’s Thesis:
The role of acinar to ductal cell transdifferentiation in pancreatic carcinogenesis
Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, 2000-2002 (research advisor: Si-Young Song, M.D., Ph.D).
- In this paper, we report the spontaneous transdifferentiation of cultured rat pancreatic acinar cells to alter their usual
phenotypic expression and attain morphological and functional characteristics of duct cells. We present in vitro system
in which the cellular differentiation of pancreatic duct-like cell and their expression of pdx-1, c-kit and SCF appeared to
induce stem cell activity potentially.
