Classic FM Broadcasts Live from The Sage Gateshead
On Monday 17th September, Classic FM - the UK’s favourite classical music radio station - takes a day
out in your landmark home of music and musical discovery. The Sage Gateshead will host the Classic
FM team for the entire day, with the station broadcasting from Hall Two bar, overlooking the River
Tyne, from 6am onwards.
As part of its ongoing 20th birthday celebrations, Classic FM will be taking the whole show on the road,
right the way up to Gateshead.
From More Music Breakfast with Tim Lihoreau to broadcasting John Wilson’s concert with Northern
Sinfonia, Orchestra of The Sage Gateshead - Classic FM’s Orchestra in the North East - from the
previous evening (Sunday 16th September), the full day’s broadcast will come live from right here in the
North East.

The Full Works Concert with Jane Jones – Live with the Northern Sinfonia
As the culmination of the day’s special broadcasts from Gateshead, Jane Jones
presents a concert of Light Music, recorded the previous evening at The Sage
and conducted by John Wilson.
Fans of the station are invited to come along to hear the live broadcasts and maybe get a chance to
say ‘hello’ to their favourite Classic FM presenter. They can also get a lovely lunch or coffee and cake

from The Sage Gateshead’s cafe or Brasserie whilst there and even start their Christmas shopping in
the Shop.
With an audience of nearly 5.5 million listeners, this special outside broadcast is guaranteed to
showcase the North East to people from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and, with a focus on Northern
Sinfonia, famous soloists from the North East and music inspired by our local area, it promises to be a
day to remember.
