Digestive juices mix with food wich is transformed into
nutrientes.
• In the mouth, saliva breaks down the carbohydrates.
• In the stomach, the gastric juices mix with the bolus of
food and they form a partially digested food paste called
chyme.
• In the small intestine, thanks to the intestinal juices, the
bile and the pancreatic juice, the digestion of food is
completed. It forms a paste, calles chyle, which contains
nutrients.

• The walls of the intestine contain veins and
capillaries which absorb the nutrients into
the bloodstream.
• In the large intestine, water is extracted from
the residues which form faeces. These are
excreted through the anus.
