Personal Statement
I am an extremely hard working individual. I fully appreciate that in this industry experience
is invaluable, I hope this ethos can be seen from my list of voluntary work, which I have
undertaken whilst all the while being at University and working for Vision Events. I relish
new challenges, and take every opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people. I would
have to say my primary passion is for lighting. However, as you will see below I have been
working hard to acquire the skills so I can also now work as a sound technician as required.
Education
BA Drama and Performance – Obtained 2013 - Queen Margaret University
Working towards Honours.
Full-Time Employment
Vision Events (Previously “Sound + Vision”) May 2012 – Present; Events Technician
(Part-Time)
I have been employed with Vision Events as A/V technician for over a year. During this time,
I have worked on various types of events such as; conferences, award shows and sporting
events across the UK. On these jobs, I have been delegated various tasks including evaluating
venues technical needs and specifications, sourcing equipment as well as rigging, designing
and operating both lighting and sound.
Assembly (Edinburgh Fringe 2013) Venue Technician – Assembly Venue Two Lighting
Technician
This entailed fully rigging all lighting for the venue, as well as programing and operating the
10 shows which were on in the venue each day for the month.
Relevant Theatrical Experience
“The Battle of pinkie” 2013 - Brunton Theatre - Technical Manager / Sound Technician;
This was a full Scale Theatre Performance directed by ‘Charles Tyrer’, and performed in
venue 1 of the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh. For this performance I managed a technical
crew as well as taking on the role of lead sound technician. The production was then toured
locally.
Cobweb Theatre - “The Hard Man” 2013 - Summer Hall – Technical Manager /
Lighting Technician
As part of this I evaluated the venue, sourced and ordered the equipment. As well as this I
managed a team of four lighting and sound technicians and was also involved in the design of
both the lighting and sound for the production.
Theatre Paradok – “Play” 2013 Assembly Roxy – Lighting/ Sound Technician
This involved a full fit-up of the venue, for sound, lighting and projection. The performance
then ran for five nights all of which I operated.
