EET-284 Computer Communications Catalog Data: EET-284 Topics: Computer Communications (4 cr.) Class 3, Lab 2 Prerequisite: EET 234 An introductory course in data communications that introduces and evaluates basic data communication systems. The hardware and software issues in computer communications are studied. The course goals are to assist students in: 1. Learning the general concepts and the essential building blocks in basic data and computer communications systems. 2. Understanding the hardware issues in computer communications. 3. Understanding the software issues in computer communications. 4. Implementing and administrating basic computer networks. Special topics in computer communications Laboratory Topics: Some tentative essential topics are as follows: 1. LabVIEW simulation on analog and digital signals (This will cover sampling) 2. LabVIEW simulation on mixing signals 3. LabVIEW simulation on some modulation techniques 4. Basic LAN cabling 5. Data encoding 6. Basic LAN configuration 7. Devices used in computer networking 8. Network operating systems installation, configuration, and maintenance
