Automatic movable railway platform with train arrival detection and
monitoring over internet of things (IOT)
Aim:
The main theme of this project is to indicate the train arrivals and platform indication for
passengers over internet.
Abstract:
The main aim of this project is to automate railway track pedestrian crossing without use
staircase &announce the status of the arrival for platform users. In this system is also used to
avoid accident problems. Because, now a day’s train accidents are occurring frequently in India.
This project identifies the status of each train using I transceivers and informs it to
microcontroller. This project is used to avoid the train collusion, thus we save the valuable
human lives and losses. This project is useful for railway departments. The recent survey from
the social analytics was said that the most disadvantages in Indian railway is climbing up the
overhead steps for the physically challenged people. Proposed system mainly deals with the
rectification of this disadvantage. We introducing the new concept of artificial railway platform.
$or the successful approach we are using two sensors and for the execution we are using Hbridge and for the controlling operations we are using microcontroller. Then the train comes
near the artificial platform, the proximity sensor senses the train and gives its output to the
microcontroller. The supply of oscillator is connected the controller. The power supply is given
to the controller pins of power supply. The H-bridge is used for the forward and reverse
movement of the platform. Then the train is far away from the artificial platform the signal
sends to microcontroller, and then the output signal from the controller is send to H-Bridge. The
relay will keep closed i.e., platform is connected.
This project is designed with ARM7TDMI processor. In this project we are using

different modules such as LPC2148, GSM, GPS and 16X2 LCD. The project is implemented
by using two modules to find out the exact location of vehicle we are using GPS and the
information can be obtained as a message by using a GSM module.
The LPC2148 are based on a 16/32 bit ARM7TDMI-S™ CPU with real-time emulation and
embedded trace support, together with 128/512 kilobytes of embedded high speed flash memory. A 128-bit
wide memory interface and unique accelerator architecture enable 32-bit code execution at maximum
clock rate. For critical code size applications, the alternative 16-bit Thumb Mode reduces code by more than
30% with minimal performance p e n a l t y .
With
their
compact
64
pin
package,
low
power
consumption, various 32-bit timers, 4- channel 10-bit ADC, USB PORT,PWM channels and 46 GPIO
lines with up to 9 external interrupt pins these microcontrollers are particularly suitable for industrial
control, medical systems, access control and point-of-sale. With a wide range of serial communications
interfaces, they are also very well suited for communication gateways, protocol converters and embedded
soft modems as well as many other general-purpose applications.
This project uses regulated 5V, 750mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for
voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/18V step
down transformer.
