Presentation of economic, industrial and investment potential of Altai Region
Presentation of investment potential of Altai Region will take place on 19th November, 2014 in
the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
The presentation will be attended by the President of the CCI Sergey Katyrin, delegation of Altai
Region headed by Governor Alexandr Karlin, company’s managers, representatives of federal
executive and legislative authorities, of the diplomatic community, the Russian and foreign
investors interested in cooperation with regional companies and journalists.
The presentation of Altai Region will be held by regional business managers in agricultural
processing, food, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology and the heads of regional administration
departments. Also the theme of tourism in the Region will be presented: the tourist-recreational
and wellness center development.
As part of the presentation exposition of tourism, food processing industry, biopharmaceuticals,
agricultural machine, power machine construction will be presented. The degustation of Altai
food products will be at the end of the official part.

About Altai Region
Altai Region is among the ten dynamic growing and economically attractive regions of Russia.
The investments increase is 4.2% in 2013 despite a nationwide slowdown in the economic
growth.
The necessary conditions for the entrepreneurial initiatives development are created in the
Region, including through the realization of business support measures from state. Annually,
new forms of state support of business are developed, as well as subsidies fund is increased.
Since 2013 additional preferences for investors began to operate. For example, there is state
support in the form of subsidy under lease of machinery and equipment, the most demanded type
of support is agricultural machinery, equipment and vehicles; also subsidizing part of the cost of
energy efficient technologies and materials.
Altay Region is the leading agricultural food region east of the Urals, which has a high economic
potential, as well as qualified human resources. Agriculture products of the Region ensure food
security of the country: more than 70% of the goods are delivered in the Russian regions. In
2013, there were collected 5.3 million tons (4th place in Russia) crops, there were received a
record in the history production of flour (1.5 million tons) and cereals (301.5 thousand tons).
Altai continues to be a leader among Russian regions for the production of flour (1st place),
cereals (2nd place), low-fat cheeses (1st place), whey powder, pasta (3rd place), butter (4th
place), meat products, and vegetable oils.
In 2013, the third result in Russia of milk production (1,364 thousand tones), the ninth in the
production of livestock and poultry (336.1 thousand tons) is achieved in the Region. Region took
up the leading position in beef production in Siberian Federal District and took third place
among the Russian regions.
One of the actively working directions to attract investment is «green» and «industrial»
biotechnology (production of feed amino acids premixes, biofuels, bioplastics, etc.). Products of
Altai biopharmaceutical cluster, based on environmentally friendly natural materials, are
distributed to 53 regions of Russia and 18 countries. The program «AltaiBio» plays a key role in
the development of the technological platform «Medicine of the Future». A company «LinhardtAltai» was the first company east of the Urals, which had established a vital production for the
needs of the Russian pharmaceutical market.
Altai Region also has unique tourism opportunities. Projects of federal significance are realized
in Altai Region. Now, two modern clusters are created in the region: «Golden Gates» and
«Belokurikha». The project includes the construction of hotels, modern spa resorts, the
development of wellness centers and spas network (with rich potential of medicinal resources of
the Altai), laying the ski slopes, the development of catering and entertainment industry.
The most important is development of a special economic zone of tourist-recreational type «Sky
Blue Katun», created as an entertainment center with a high level of finished engineering
infrastructure and favorable business conditions. The project (costs 30 billion rubles) was
launched in 2007. The planned realization period is until 2055. The volume of private and public
investment, aimed to developing a special economic zone, exceeds 5.8 billion rubles. Private
business were invested more than 247 million rubles in 2013.
Favorable conditions for attracting investment in the modernization of the economy have created
in the Altai region. According to the results of the National Ranking of investment climate, Altai
Region received high marks in a number of parameters, which allowed entering into the second
group rating of the pilot regions. High ratings of Russian and international rating agencies
confirm investment potential growth of Altai Region. According to the report submitted by the
Agency for strategic initiatives, in Altai Region it was achieved a better indicator in Siberia at
implementation of the requirements of investment standard.
