John Hammond Bio
John Hammond joins the International Marketing Section with the North Carolina
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) as an International Marketing
Specialist. John will focus on developing export trade opportunities for North Carolina
agricultural businesses. His primary responsibilities will include the promotion of forestry
products, cotton, Christmas trees, horticulture and various other industrial agricultural
products, domestically and internationally. Previously, John worked with the Horticulture and
Seafood Marketing Section within NCDA&CS to promote nurseries, floriculture, turf grass, pine
needles, Christmas trees and honey in domestic markets.
Prior to joining NCDA&CS, John was the owner of landscape design-build contracting and
urban forestry consulting firm. He has also worked as a manager of sales and marketing for a
farm and landscape supply company, worked in nursery production research, golf course and
landscape maintenance. John is an ISA Certified Arborist, a NC Registered Landscape
Contractor and NC Certified Plant Professional. He has over 17 years experience in agricultural
and horticultural industries. John received his Bachelor of Science in Horticultural Science from
North Carolina State University.
Outside of professional interests, John enjoys, photography, golf, playing guitar, and
spending time with his family. Mr. Hammond resides in Fuquay-Varina with his wife Elizabeth
and two children.
