PERONEAL AND TIBIAL NERVE BLOCK

TECHNIQUE
-The deep and superficial peroneal nerve is
anesthetized on the lateral aspect of the
limb, 10cm proximal to the point of the hock,
in a groove created by the long and lateral
digital extensor muscles. To anesthetize the
deep peroneal nerve, deposit solution next to
the tibia. To anesthetize the superficial
peroneal nerve, deposit solution superficially
just under the skin.
- The tibial nerve can be blocked 10cm
proximal to the calcaneous, between the
gastrocnemius & superficial digital flexor
tendon. The nerve lies closer to the medial
aspect of the limb
