Brian Jones
Astrology sheds light on the mystery surrounding Brian Jones’
death, the original Rollin Stone.

July 12, 1962, Brian Jones names his band “Rollin
Stone”, acts as founder and band leader shortly after
he signs on Mick Jagger, who would only agree if
Keith Richards was signed up as well. 1963 the “g” in
Rollin is added.
The summer of 1969 was hot and humid and Brian's
asthma returned. He carried his respirators everywhere
he went as well as a spare in every room.
With repairs needed on the farm, Rolling Stones
Incorporated sent Frank Thorogood, an employee
who had previously carried out renovations for Keith
Richards at Redlands. No one on Cotchford Farm
liked or trusted Frank and his crew.
Due to the limited length of this article only the last
year of Brian’s life (1969) is covered, the information
surrounding his death was released to the public forty
years later.
A new girl enters Brian's life, Anna Katherine Wohlin,
she had met Brian in 1967 but didn't connect with him
until early 1969.
With the Stones cash flow problems, they were
considering an offer to play a season at the Las Vegas
Hilton for GBP 100,000 but with Brian having two
drug convictions he would be denied entrance to the
US. The idea to shelve Brian was already in the works
when Brian returned from Ceylon in early January. He
moved out of London and into his new Cotchford
Farm with two devoted dogs along with several staff
that came with the house.
The Stones officially inform Brian of their decision to
boot him out of the band. Mick, Keith and a reluctant
Charlie went to see him to break the news. On top of
his share of royalties, a settlement in the region of
GBP 100,000 would be paid.

experience with illegal substances, but, contrary to
popular belief, Brian did make an attempt to rid his life
of drugs because of the emotional turmoil he
underwent during the drug busts. Though he may
have sustained somewhat of a drinking problem, he
could not handle the idea of being caught again with
narcotics and put in prison.”
“It’s often been said that Brian being asked to leave
The Rolling Stones was devastating for him. While this
is true to an extent, close friends (including Alexis
Korner and Ronni Money) dispute this claim saying
the last couple of weeks of Brian’s were some of his
best, feeling more relieved than crushed. This also
matches well with Charlie Watt’s statement, saying
Brian’s attitude had improved within the last days of
his life. Much of this change might easily be attributed
to Brian’s love for his new home along with an
eagerness to produce his own music.”
FRIDAY June 13 Brian's replacement Mick Tayloris
is announced by the Stones.
MONDAY June 30 Brian has heard that his first
single since breaking with the Stones had just gone to
press.
TUESDAY July 1 He has arranged two auditions for
his new group who were to come to Cotchford on
Thursday. Brian also asks his good friends, Les and
Janie Perrin to come for the weekend. Janie responded
by saying, “only if the cowboys weren't there.” Brian
responded by saying, "I'm going to get rid of this lot"
THURSDAY June 12 Helen Spittal joins Brian and
Anna on his farm, a personal invitation. Back in the
days when the Stones were just starting to make a
name Helen would hang outside his music studio and
wait for him to show, she was Brian’s biggest fan.
Brian and Helen became very good friends.
Helen took with her two very strong memories of that
visit:
1. Why he tolerated Frank Thorogood?
2. When a bottle of prescription tablets arrived at
the house by taxi he was most insistent that I
read the details on the bottle, they were legal
and above board.
“After moving to Cotchford and sobering up as a
result of the drug trials, Brian was determined not to
get himself in the same trouble again to the point of
paranoia. There is no denying the severity of Brian’s

As well, a self-invited guest, Janet Ann Lawson arrives
to stay for a few days with Frank Thorogood, an on
and off girlfriend since the previous April, a State
Registered Nurse.
Transits
We need only to look at the transits of that moment
in time to see a lot of activity to Brian’s natal Chart.
Brian invited Frank and Janet to join him and Anna to
dinner that evening so he could terminate the builder’s
presence at his home. However, Brian didn't raise the
subject. About 9pm he went for a swim, the other
three watched. He once asked for one of the four
inhalers placed at each corner of the pool.
Neptune (Moon / Cancer) rules drowning, water,
drugs, swimming pools and swimmers. Neptune rules
Pisces and the twelfth house, drugs, secrets and crime.
Pluto and Mars rule murder and violence. Mars and
Uranus rule accidents.
WEDNESDAY July 2 The next morning, the hottest
day on record, he told his housekeeper that people
would be arriving and staying the night.
Mercury rules asthma and lungs.
Frank Thorogood made his weekly Wednesday visit to
London. Janet stayed in his flat above the garage all
day until his return, around 6 pm.
Note, applying transits (A) and separating transits (S).
Saturn rules mercenary persons, sedatives and
workmen.
First house ruler, transiting Mercury in the tenth
opposite transiting MC in the fourth, endings, making
a wide T-Square to natal Neptune 8° A.
Brian receives a telephone call from Tom Keylock (the
Rolling Stones chauffeur and “fixer”) mid-day to
discuss Brian’s future plans for his upcoming holiday.
Transiting Neptune, ruler of the seventh house (open
enemies) at 26° Scorpio is exactly opposite to natal
Mars and Uranus and transiting Mars is at 1°
Sagittarius opposite Mars and Uranus 5° S.
As if Tuesday night had been a rehearsal, Frank and
Janet joined Brian and Anna for drinks and a swim at
about 10:30 pm. This time Frank and Anna go in for a
swim with Brian. Gradually over the next fifteen
minutes Anna, Janet and Brian’s dogs were to
disappear into the house. Thorogood was the last
person to see Brian alive. The guests Brian mentioned
to his housekeeper never arrive.

For the next six hours, the three witnesses provide
three different versions of what happened that
evening to the two detectives assigned to the case.
Most infamously, Keylock was one of the first people
to arrive on the scene.

According to the witness reports, Brian Jones died
from drowning between 11:30pm and Midnight on
July 2, 1969. Death by Misadventure is noted on the
Death Certificate meaning it was accidental and not
due to crime or negligence. It was widely believed that
he had an asthma attack in the water, failed to reach
his inhaler and drowned.

Mars and Uranus 26° Taurus exact.
Comment from one of Brian’s sons, Mark, many years
later, “Brian's death aided the Stones, it almost
provided a gem in a way. Can you imagine what Brian
would be doing now?” Was Brian a threat to the
band?”
Solar eclipse March 18th at 27° Pisces in the seventh
house of partners, opposite natal Neptune 29° Virgo.
The above covers transits related to the event of the
day, the secondary progressions (not shown) have
even more to say.
December 5, 1968, the album, Beggar’s Banquet is
released. Brian`s contributions to the album were
outstanding and hailed as Brian’s ‘singular triumph’ with
critics extolling his remarkable and clever
arrangements.
While he was in Ceylon he visited an astrologer, he
received a bizarre warning, “Be careful swimming in
the coming year, don’t go into water without a friend.”
His new home had a beautiful pool and Brian was a
good swimmer from a very young age.
He should be remembered as someone who mattered.
The late Brian Jones has never been elevated to Iconic
status yet he was a respected musician, a legend like
Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and many others.
The Pathology / Police Reports:
He also joins the 27 Club with Alan Wilson, Jimi
Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse
and Kurt Cobain.
The Biochemists report blood barbiturate was nil. His
blood alcohol was 140mgs per cent, equivalent to the
consumption of three and a half pints of beer
(nowhere near paralytic).

The chromatography test results revealed no
amphetamine, methedrine, morphine, methadrone, or
isoprenaline in his organs. However two dense spots,
one yellowish orange, the other purple were found,
not identifiable.
Brian’s urine analysis revealed an amphetamine-likesubstance but NOT actual amphetamine amounting to
1720 mgs per cent, nearly nine times the normal
amount was present. This suggests ingestion of a fairly
large quantity of a drug.

(A) in Chicoutimi, Quebec. She presently
has a full time career as owner of an
international freight company and spends
her spare time in the art of astrology. She
started in 1985 and has progressed to
erecting electional charts and learning
about horary interpretation.
On examination of the body, no internal injuries and
no evidence of violence was found. No drugs were
found in the farmhouse when it was searched later nor
were there any drugs in his system bar the one noted
above.
Brian Jones did drown that night in his own pool.
Why was Brian Jones drugged, was death caused at the
hands of Frank Thorogood? This would mean his
death was premeditated.

How to Give an
Astrological Referral

In one of the Dirty Harry movies Clint Eastwood
famously said, "An expert knows when it's time to call
in the experts."
What is an astrological referral?
An astrological referral is where you (the astrologer)
suggest your client consults with someone else who
may be an astrologer or another person in a related
new age field.
This is exactly what client referral is all about, knowing
when to call in the experts. Astrologers cannot be all
things to all people.
You should know the other expert to whom you are
referring and ideally you will have had a working
relationship with them in the past.
There will be those you can't help for one reason or
another. Sometimes you need to refer your clients to
other experts.

Astrologers refer clients for several
reasons:
Who and whom
Physical distance
Who can refer?
The prospective client is on the phone and wants a
face-to-face consultation but lives miles away. A good
astrologer will know the names of those working near
to the client and will be able to refer to them.
All astrologers can, and at times should, refer their
clients to other astrologers or related practitioners.
To whom can you refer?
If you are a new astrologer you may not yet know who
is good and you likely are not confident in referring.
Ask your teacher or mentor to provide some
recommendations. If still at a loss your local astrology
group will have a list of names of neighborhood
experts to offer.
Not in their field of expertise
Perhaps the client wants a chart rectified and you do
not offer that service. Not every astrologer does
everything.
Personally I don't work on health issues or illness, but
I do specialize in conception work and children's
astrology. Other astrologers concentrate on health and
wellness or various related fields.
For example:

The astrologer feels uncomfortable
On occasion the energies emanating from a client may
not sit well with you. It may be a gut reaction but you
know you cannot connect with this person.

No time
You are fully booked for months ahead and then are
off to a conference for a week, after which you are
going on vacation for six weeks (well, we can hope).

Note
How to give an astrological referral
Once you have decided to whom you are going to
refer your client, what do you do?
In my experience if you simply give your client the
expert's number they may call and discover that
person will not see them either.
Do not give the name of your referred expert to your client - yet.
Sometimes clients can be in a fragile state and see this
lack of acceptance as a form of rejection.
Step 1:
This unfortunate situation is avoided if you confer
with the one you are referring to first and make sure
your client will be well received.
You contact the expert and ask if they will accept this
client. They too may be going away or be otherwise
engaged.
Ask yourself
If this person cannot see your client you then contact
the next one on your referral list and in this manner you
find someone who will help.
Do you refer your clients? Do you have another way
of referring clients? Do you wish to be considered an
expert in a particular astrological field? Do you know
the astrologers in other main centers?
Briefly explain the situation and let them know you
will get your client to call directly and make an
appointment.
All of these questions are asked by aspiring astrologers.
Where do you stand?
Step 2:
You provide your client with the email address and
phone number of the chosen one and your client can
personally make the arrangements to consult with your
choice.

ARIES – March 21 to April 20
TAURUS – April 21 to May 20
Ambitious to achieve, from time to time, you will have
to deal with issues of power and control in the
workplace. You may be the controlling person in a
business situation, or someone else might try to
dominate you. Some Arians will take on leadership
positions in business, clubs or organizations, while
others will have to resolve issues with their parents.
Over the past few years, some of your friendships
have been radically altered and you have broken away
from many things that were once an important part of
your life. In one-to-one relationships, you require the
mental freedom and independence to be your own
true self. Upgrade your skill level to advance on the
job. If you go back to school, expect to deal with a
heavy, academic workload. Travel for business and
attend seminars or conferences held outside of the
country. Until October 2017, your close relationships
offer potential for growth. If you are involved in a
dating relationship, you may decide to make it legal.
Single Arians could meet the person of their dreams.
A lawsuit should work to your advantage.
You may be questioning your relationships and your
place in the scheme of things. While travelling, you
could meet someone who exerts a positive influence
on your life. Write, publish or return to school, as a
teacher or student. People or circumstances from the
past could reappear, forcing you to settle unfinished
business. Confronting the past and settling old scores
is cleansing and healing preparing the way for the new
image and identity you will experience when Uranus
enters Taurus in May 2018. This liberating transit is
preparing you for more personal freedom and exciting
new beginnings. Go with the flow of the changes that
Uranus wants you to make. You will not be able to
count on anyone for financial backup, a job could
come to an end, or a loan be rejected, or a partner
could experience a financially challenging period,
forcing you, more and more, to rely on your own
resources. Until October 2017, work will be fulfilling
and enjoyable and new job opportunities will be
available. If you avoid overindulgence, you will
experience greater physical strength and vitality.

GEMINI – May 21 to June 21
to improve the habit patterns of your everyday life.
Until October 2017, buy or sell real estate or make
improvements in your personal life, family
relationships and home. Take whatever steps are
necessary to gain security, inner peace and serenity.
Try to discover your sense of inner purpose and work
to make your dreams come true. Some people will
move from job to job (searching for the right
vocation), while others have to cope with career
setbacks. Geminis, working in service, social or
counselling fields, will enjoy an optimistic cycle.
Artistic and musical Geminis should let their creativity
flow. You will meet new and unusual people who will
challenge you to a new and innovative way of
thinking. Some Geminis will join political
organizations, while others will work for humanitarian
causes. If you plan to get involved in a business
partnership, this is a good time. Family members may
be less co-operative and co-workers more demanding.
In a close relationship, communicate clearly what you
want to receive and in turn, listen closely to your
partner’s real needs. Until October 2017, try out a new
hobby, develop a new educational interest, or improve
your creative and artistic skills. Relationships will work
out well and love relationships have potential for
improvement. Enjoy your children’s education, talents
and accomplishments.
LEO – July 23 to August 22
Rather than overtax your physical strength, try to
figure out what your body really needs. Choose a
nutritious diet and join an exercise program. Avoid
power struggles and confrontations with superiors and
co-workers. However, from time to time, you will
have to deal with stress or tension in the workplace.
Take practical steps to understand progressive
philosophies or New Age ideas, or go back to school,
as a teacher, or student. Travel the world and explore
new concepts and ideas. While travelling, you could
encounter situations that dramatically change the
course of your life and come back far different from
the person who left. Confront any habits, or fears that
make you feel devitalized, creatively frustrated, or
unlovable, or unloving and develop your own inner
resources of love and creativity, do not look to the
outside world to satisfy your needs. More prone to
overwork now, some Leos will turn a hobby into a
business. Travel will be satisfying, even short trips
close to home. Until October 2017, your mind will be
ready for new learning experiences and the fields of
writing and communication show tremendous
promise. You would benefit greatly from networking
and attending conferences and workshops.
CANCER – June 22 to July 22
You are gaining greater control and self-mastery
through your one-to-one relationships. The people we
attract have something to teach us. They mirror what
we see, or fail to see, in ourselves. Do not attempt to
dominate anyone, or let someone else gain control
over you. Get into the driver’s seat and guide and
direct your own life. A time when some Cancers will
want greater freedom and creative control over their
work life, some will leave the corporate world to start
their own businesses. New work offers could come in
unexpectedly, or on the spur-of-the-moment, you
could change your profession, or your job. Forced to
become more disciplined, you should pay closer
attention to your physical health. If it breaks down,
look at the way you are handling your physical
energies. Follow a healthy food program and get
plenty of rest and regular exercise. Saturn will help you
VIRGO – August 23 to September 21
You may expect too much from a partner or he/she
might have difficulty living up to your ideal. Try to
view your partner in a realistic light. Avoid codependent situations and people who need rescuing.
Artists, musicians, healers, counsellors, fashion
designers, photographers and others, who work in
creative areas, will find the public extremely receptive.

Financial changes can come through sudden or
unexpected events. A partner’s business could take
off, or they could receive an unexpected windfall, but
your partner could also experience a financial setback.
Some people will take on higher mortgage payments,
while others will repair, renovate or redecorate their
current place of residence. Still others may downsize
to a smaller location. If elements from the past
surface, you must deal with them right away. Until
October 2017, more financial opportunities will be
available. Rather than overspending, find new ways to
earn money and increase your financial assets. More
moneymaking thoughts will come in, but do not take
your financial luck for granted. You will gain a much
better understanding of your self-worth and selfesteem.
SCORPIO – October 23 to November 21
A time when everyday life with relatives, neighbours,
daily business and other matters takes on a more
serious tone, you can experience power struggles or
confrontations with siblings, relatives or neighbours.
Ideas, you thought to be the truth, are changing and
you are beginning to question many of your previous
beliefs. If you tap into your creative potential, other
people will begin to notice your unique skills and
talents. In a work situation, you will want to be free of
another person’s excessive demands and will revolt
against any duties or obligations you consider too
oppressive. You need the type of a job that gives you
plenty of freedom and room to grow. Do not let fear
or financial insecurity run your life. Money only
becomes a problem if you are not handing it properly.
If you are a diligent money manager, your financial
situation should improve under these energies. Until
October 2017, embrace your dreams, listen to your
inner voice and forgive old hurts. Focus on factors,
deep within that make you more compassionate.
Spend time alone with your thoughts to enhance your
creative inspiration.
LIBRA – September 22 to October 22
You will experience changes in your home, either
through the loss of a job or through emotional
confrontations with others in the family. Some Libras
will move to new locations, while others will repair,
renovate or redecorate their current place of residence.
Clean out your basement, attic and closets and rid
your life of clutter. Until May 2018, relationships (both
business and personal) will be full of surprises. A cycle
of change and readjustment in even the best of
relationships, a secure relationship will easily weather
the storms of this cycle. Develop your mental skills
and learn to communicate more effectively. Upgrade
your skill or educational level and develop a deep,
inner drive for additional knowledge. Go out into the
community and network. Be extra cautious when
signing contracts or formulating agreements. Until
October 2017, you are in a learning cycle and will gain
more knowledge and experience. Reach beyond your
current life circumstances, but do keep your
limitations in mind. More optimistic, relationships and
new encounters will work to your advantage. Your
increased self-confidence and poise will serve you well.
SAGITTARIUS – November 22 to December 21
Whether material or spiritual, your values and attitude
towards your money and material possessions are
changing and your greatest challenges involve your
income and property. You are also receiving subtle
insights or strategies about money and investments
that can eventually lead to greater prosperity. Try out
new forms of self-expression, like acting or public
speaking. More attracted to arts, crafts and design
work, you could experience a creative breakthrough.
In fact, a whole new life can open up if you tap into

A client asked what was happening in her chart when she won
a $1,000,000 lottery?
The first thing that jumped out at me when I looked at
her charts (birth, progressed and time of her lottery
win) was Saturn, in transit, conjuncting her North
Node exactly. Saturn rules her eighth house of joint
finances. Her birth Part of Fortune is in her fifth
house of gambling and speculation. Venus, transiting
her fifth house that day conjuncted her Part of
Fortune. The Part of Fortune in the winning chart
opposed her birth Part of Fortune
and Venus. Her Progressed Moon,
ruler of her second house of personal
finances, conjuncted Saturn, ruler of
her eighth house.
The day before she won the lottery, transiting Jupiter
sextiled Saturn (ruler of her eighth house). The rulers
of the three money houses second (Moon), fifth
(Venus) and eighth (Saturn) were all actively involved
in her lucky win.
Looking at the Solar Return Chart for her birthday in
2016, the Midheaven in that chart conjoined the Part
of Fortune in her Birth Chart exactly. Venus also rules
her fifth house in her Solar Return
Chart. Her Sun in Taurus conjuncted
Uranus in the Solar Return Chart (the
win was a total surprise).

Fish Can’t Climb Trees
Book Review
Fish Can't Climb Trees by Helyn Connerr
uptake of information. An astrologer will connect this to
the astrological elements, qualities and polarities.
The title Fish Can't Climb Trees may seem a strange one but
it references Einstein's quote:
This book can be read by non-astrologers but for
astrologers is it a wonderful resource on how each Mercury
placement actually processes information. These insights
can be used if you are a practicing astrologer right now in
your daily readings.
"Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability
to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is
stupid."
And on from this that each person can be a genius but they
need to be measured differently to each other. That one
method of scoring intelligence does not fit all.
My biggest take away from Fish Can't Climb Trees is that as a
teacher I naturally present my classes through my individual
Mercury Model and I can see the strength and weaknesses
in myself which can be improved to reach through to my
own students who have different Mercury signs themselves.
Helyn Connerr has written a book about how we actually
process information as adults based on astrology.
She references ancient archetypes and builds her case on
solid foundations. There are detailed explanations of the
twelve possible learning methods as shown by each birth
chart Mercury placement.
Through the nature of your natal Mercury and it's sign your
speaking, learning, thinking and genius can be shown.
I've read a few astrology books in my time and I have to
say that Fish Can't Climb Trees by Helyn Connerr is
exceptional on several counts. She has many original
thoughts, insights and comments on astrology. She suggests
practical methods of dealing with each Mercury sign. She
has written a book which is well crafted with a woven
message of intellectual diversity that should be embraced
and not shunned.
Connerr writes in an easy to read style with clear and
articulate explanations for each sign. She makes memorable
symbols for the Mercury signs like Procon for Mercury in
Libra that references the Libran need to see both the pros
and cons or both sides of any situation.
Say you and your friend
both have your Sun in
Aries, but if you have
Mercury in Taurus you
will learn and process
information differently
than your buddy who has
their Mercury in Pisces.
If you are an astrology student, teacher, speaker or lecturer
you need to read Fish can't Climb Trees.

The Certificate Party was held on Sunday, November 27 at
Shannon Cunningham’s home in Toronto. Shannon is a
wonderful hostess and we always have a delightful time at
her home. CAAE Certificates were presented to three Level
One students, four Level 2 students and five Level 3
students. One student completed two electives
(Relationship and Horary) and received certification for
both. Two other students received Horary Certificates.
Students receiving certificates were from Toronto, Orono,
Courtice, Montreal, Vancouver and Halifax. Special thanks
to Kate Preston, CAAE’s Registrar for organizing the
exams.

My role as President continues to be an ongoing learning
experience. This past FalI, I taught three in person classes –
Levels 1, 2 and 3. I also taught three students by Skype. It is
a thrilling experience when my students write the exams
and pass. For me, Astrology is truly a labour of love. It is
such an on-going learning experience.
We are pleased to welcome two new Astrology Teachers:
In my last president message, I quoted Ray Merriman
saying that the star Regulus had moved to 1 degree of the
earth sign Virgo after spending 2160 years in the fire sign
Leo. I liked his suggestion that if Hillary Clinton was
elected president, women would gain more power. Alas!
This was not to be. Since Donald Trump was elected
President, I keep quoting the Desiderata “You are a child
of the universe, no less than the trees and stars and whether
or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding
as it should”. Incidentally, Regulus is conjuncting Donald
Trump’s Progressed Sun 1 degree of Virgo.
Christine Linwood lives in Langley, BC. She has completed
three levels of certification with CAAE and will teach the
CAAE Curriculum. A member of ISAR, Christine has been
studying astrology since 1992 and continues to take
courses, attend conference, seminars and workshops.
Adriana Santiago lives in Montreal and has completed three
levels of Astrological Study with Janet Markham. She is
now working on the final course for her CAAE Diploma.
She maintains an active astrological consulting practice.
Adriana will teach the CAAE Curriculum.
