! STILL POSSIBLE TO REGISTER ! The “Towards New Standards in Rectal Cancer Treatment Symposium” is coming closer, and it promises to become a very successful event! It is still possible to register, but since places are limited we would like to advise you not to wait too long! HOW TO REGISTER: Registration should be done through the website: www.towardsnewstandards.be A fee of €145 (excl. VAT) applies for delegates. Specialists in training can register at a reduced fee of €45 (excl. VAT). PROGRAMME: Towards New Standards will take place at the Provincial House in Leuven (Belgium) on Thursday 24 November, 2016. The multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of rectal cancer is rapidly changing. MR imaging is gaining increasing importance in the assessment of response to preoperative treatment. There is increasing data on the role of ‘wait and see’ protocols in patients with a complete clinical response. The TAMIS platform has changed the surgical aspect of trans anal local excision but also of TME surgery (taTME). There is a better understanding of the impact of radical surgery on function (LARS) and new therapeutic measures to improve quality of life. A faculty of both local and international experts will highlight the importance of these changes and their clinical relevance. The symposium will guide all involved partners to optimise care for rectal cancer patients. The symposium, for which RIZIV/INAMI accreditation will be requested, will be a full symposium day, combining key lectures and debates in an interactive learning experience, open to specialists, specialists in training and researchers active in the field of Abdominal Surgery, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Radiation Oncology and Radiology. SESSION TOPICS: Imaging Pre-operative Treatment The (near) Complete Responder Transanal TME Adjuvant Treatment Functional Outcome The Leuven Standard in Treatment of Rectal Cancer The detailled programme is available on the website www.towardsnewstandards.be We hope to welcome you all at this symposium as we look towards new standards in rectal cancer treatment!
