Geometry A 2015-2016 LAP # 4 Chapter 4 Congruent Triangles Ms. Kondracki [email protected] NAME_____________________________________ Essential Questions: What does it mean for two figures to be congruent? How can we prove two triangles are congruent? Overview: Congruent figures have the same shape and size. We will learn to prove two triangles are congruent with four different methods using sides and angles. Isosceles, equilateral, and right triangles have special theorems to help prove if two triangles are congruent Rationale: Understanding congruence is very important anytime someone builds. Rockets, buildings, cars, bridges, tables, and many more important structures must have congruent figures in order to work properly. If a chair does not have congruent angles and lengths, it will be faulty and someone could fall out. Objectives: - recognize congruent figures and corresponding parts - prove triangles are congruent using four different methods - apply properties of isosceles triangles - prove right triangles are congruent using HL Enrichment: FACEing Math Due 11/18 Summative LAP test is 11/19 Late work and retake summative tests from LAP 3 are due at the end of LAP 4.
