BLACK HOLE
Cindy ,Robin , Selina
A black hole is a place in space
where gravity pulls so much
that even light can not get out.
The gravity is so strong because
matter has been squeezed into a
tiny space. This can happen
when a star is dying.
Because of its high density,
the gravity is particularly
strong. According to classi
cal black hole theory ,
the gravitational field aro
und such objects is so great
that nothing, not even lig
ht, can escape from their t
enacious grip.So We were
unable to observe the refle
ction of light it can only be
affected by surrounding o
bjects to indirectly underst
and the black hole.
Q&A
1. What is the black hole?
A black hole is one of the
strangest objects in space.
It is an area in space where
gravity is so strong that
even light cannot escape
from it.
2.How big is a black hole?
Black holes come in many sizes and their
size depends on how much material is in
them (their mass). Some are the remains of a
giant star which collapsed. A star has to be much
more massive than our Sun to become a black hole.
3. How are black holes detected?
Black holes are detected as surrounding
material (like gas) is funneled by the
force of gravity into a disk around the
black hole. molecules in the disk swirl
around the black hole so fast that they
heat up and emit X-rays. These X-rays can
be detected from Earth. Black holes can
also be detected by watching for motions of
stars near the black hole.
4.Are there really black holes in space?
Since black holes do not put out any
light, we cannot see them. However, we
can see the effect that they have on the
area of space around them. Since black
holes have extremely high gravity, they
pull in surrounding material at very high
speeds, causing this material to become
very hot and emit X-rays. By finding this
very hot material which is spiraling into
black holes, astronomers can identify
where some of them are.
5.Could the Sun become a black hole?
No, the Sun is much too
small to ever become a
black hole. A star has to
be much more massive than
the Sun before it can
collapse into a black hole.
6.How big is a black hole?
Black holes come in many
sizes and their size depends
on how much material is in
