Orthodontic training for General Dentists
General dentists are rapidly discovering the benefits of being able to offer
orthodontic treatment to their patients. There has been a proliferation in courses
(Inman, 6 month smiles as well as Invisalign® and Clearstep) in recent years aimed
at providing dentists with the knowledge to carry out straightforward orthodontic
treatment. However many of these courses are expensive and limited to just
one solution.
The Course
Do you want to be able to offer orthodontics as part of your cosmetic
treatment plans?
Do you want to be able to offer a range of appliances to your patients and
not be limited to just one brand?
This 9 day course will be delivered by Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Murtuza Hasnaini.
As this course is being delivered by a specialist, it will cover all types of braces
including traditional metal fixed braces as well as aesthetic (ceramic) bracket
systems and clear aligners such as Invisalign®.
The course format will be a combination of lectures and hands-on practical
treatment of patients but the emphasis will be on practical orthodontic teaching.
The aim is to ensure that at the end of the training, general dentists are able to offer
the full range of appliances to all their patients to treat simple malocclusions to a
high standard.
To ensure participants get maximum benefit from this course, numbers will be limited
to 6 attendees, allowing time for one to one tuition.
This course provides over 60 hours verifiable CPD

Why Dr Murtuza Hasnaini?
Murtuza is a Specialist Orthodontist with over 10 years
experience in orthodontics. Murtuza has set up 4
successful orthodontic practices from new, operating as
The Brace Orthodontic Group and located across England
and Wales. He has diagnosed and planned treatment for
almost 10,000 patients over the course of his career.
He now mainly practices private orthodontics in the City
of London with a particular interest in treatment for adults
with cosmetic and invisible braces. Murtuza has gained
extensive experience in a wide range of orthodontic
appliances including Invisalign clear aligners and Incognito
lingual braces and also regularly attends conferences to
keep up to date with latest technologies.
Dr Murtuza Hasnaini
Murtuza has lectured to the British Orthodontic Society and the British Dental
Association and is heavily involved with teaching having successfully trained
3 orthodontic therapists to date.
Having successfully run 2 cohorts of this training course, we are now offering a new

The location
The sessions will be held at The Brace Orthodontic Practice in the City of London
which has great transport links from across London and surrounding counties.
Our modern practice has a dedicated lecture room and five state of the art surgeries.

Session 1 – Diagnosis and case selection (1 Day)

Examination and diagnosis
Classification of Malocclusion
Practical
Hands on: Complete examination and diagnosis of a patient. We will provide
patients for you to diagnose and assess in pairs.
Session 2 – Treatment planning and collection of
pre treatment records (2 Days)

Selecting the correct tools for ‘wow’ clinical photography
Consent
Treatment planning
Practical
Treatment planning options and selection of the correct appliance
Hands on: This is your opportunity to bring your own patients to be assessed and
treatment planned with Dr Murtuza Hasnaini. This practical session will take place in
the afternoon of the first day and for the whole of the second day.
Session 3 – Introduction to Orthodontics (2 Days)
Theory
The Risks of Orthodontics
Interceptive Orthodontics
Emergencies in Orthodontics
Practical
Hands on: Bonding fixed appliances. Bring your own patients ready for starting
active treatment. This practical session will take place in the afternoon of the first day
and for the whole of the second day.

Session 4 – Active Treatment (1 Day)
Theory
Fixed appliances
Practical
Hands on: Adjustment and case progression with fixed appliances.
Session 5 – End of Treatment and Retention (2 Days)
Theory
Removable Appliances
Debonding fixed appliances
Retainers
Practical
Hands on: Debonding fixed appliances and retainers. We will provide patients for
you to debond and provide a demonstration of the placement of a fixed retainer.
This practical session will take place in the afternoon of the first day and for the
whole of the second day.
Session 6 – Invisible Appliances
Theory
Successful case selection and treatment with clear aligner systems such as
Invisalign®/Clearstep systems
Hands on: Taking silicone impressions, placing attachments and inter
proximal reduction.
Each session will run from 9am to 5pm. The morning will consist of lectures and the
afternoons will be for practical application. You can provide your own patients for the
practical sessions meaning you can start offering Orthodontics at your practice
straight away, carry out your first cases under the supervision of a Specialist, and
keep the profit from the fees you charge. We can also provide patients for the
practical sessions.

Your investment
£495 per day (total of 9 days) – inclusive of material costs for metal fixed braces*.
*lab costs charged separately.

communications and equipment guide to use in your own practice

• Assistance with treatment planning or case review for any 2 cases during
the course

treatment fees.
• With one staff member for free, your nurse will receive basic orthodontic
training for free
