Eventual the forces (weight and air resistance) are balanced and she reaches a final or terminal velocity of about 50m/s AQUINAS DIOCESAN GRAMMAR Air Resistance When the skydiver first open his chute the forces (weight and air resistance) are unbalanced. The resultant force is upward so the skydiver slows down from terminal velocity (50m/s).
