IMAGE DETECTION AND DISPLAY SYSTEMS
Course 36125201
This course is basically a seminar course. The first few weeks are devoted to
lectures by the instructor on basic concepts such as optical transfer function,
spatial impulse response [spread function], sine wave vs. square wave response,
resolution, contrast, the Johnson chart, and atmospheric MTF as an example of a
seminar. The rest of the semester is filled with seminars by the students on
various topics appropriate to the name of the course. The grade is based on the
oral seminar plus a written report by the student on the topic of his seminar.
Points are deducted from the final grade according to the number of absences.
Points are added according to student participation in discussions carried out
during the seminars by other students.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
Image sensors [electron tube types and semiconductor types, film]
Adaptive optics
Liquid lenses
Target acquisition
Synthetic aperture radar [SAR]
Display systems [including smart ones, HUD, HMD]
