Biography
On May 24th 2007, in Bologna, Italy, Adam was on tour and playing with the late Mark Linkous & his beloved Sparklehorse,
on what would be their final European tour. That night Adam invited friend and colleague Francesco Donadello to see the
concert, and Francesco's guest this evening was composer Dustin O'Halloran (Sofia Coppola’s ‘Marie Antoinette’ O.S.T.).
Through a strange twist of backstage conversations surrounding passport cache conundrums, and love of Italian
gastronomy, a curious friendship began that now has brought forth an offspring of truly curative compositions for the world
to savor.

Press Quotes



“Composed by two musicians at the height of their craft, the album reveals itself, thus far, as the apex of a limited
genre still forming and as one of our finest contemporary acts of remembrance and ascension.”
– Tiny Mix Tapes (90/100)
“It portrays the striding, triumphant figure, an image of arrested motion that ties nicely to this record: A Winged
Victory's music, more active than drone and thicker than minimalism, captures movement and freezes it.”
– Pitchfork.com (7.3/10)
“You won't feel sullen after you hear this, you'll feel victorious. Although we can't guarantee wings.”
– TheGuardian.co.uk (selected as “New Band of the Day”)




“A nocturnal meditation for solitary contemplation, a celestial incantation to silence all commotion. While Wiltzie and
O’Halloran both have their obvious contemporaries to draw parallels between (Hammock; Eno/Frahm; Arnalds), this
emotive disc balances a hushed intimacy and vast expanse that places it in a unique sonic terrain."
– DrownedInSound.com (9/10)
“It’s a record of staggering beauty and unlikely to be matched in terms of depth of emotion by any other instrumental
record in 2011.” – The Line of Best Fit (9/10)
“Meditative and cinematic, but also – more unusually for music of this so-called ‘post-classical’ stripe – rich in melody
and genuinely haunting, numinous atmosphere.” – BBC Music (8/10)
“The hunt is over, welcome to the best album of 2011.” – The Digital Fix (9/10)
