The Wrens Topic/Science Homework (45 mins)

This term in Science we are exploring ‘Rocks and Soils’. This topic links in well with
Ancient Egypt because the Egyptians used different rocks to build their pyramids
and sphinxs.

In class we have explored the Rock cycle. We understand that rocks are many, many
years old and originate even before humans! We understand that there are 3 main
types of rocks – Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic. We are able to sort most
rocks into these categories.
We looked at Volcanoes too, this is because the hot magma that erupts from these
deadly beasts form igneous rocks.
This week’s homework is to illicit the children’s understanding so far and explore
rocks a little further.
