CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
• Nematodes have no heart or blood vessels so they have to get nutrients
through there bodies in other ways.
• They absorb nutrients through there skin using osmosis.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
• Nematodes receive oxygen through there skin
• Diffusion allows oxygen to even out inside their bodies

SUPPORT SYSTEM
• No skeletal system
• Cells together to make tissues to make up body exterior
• Aquatic nematodes get support from water

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
• Nematodes reproduce sexually.
• Male has amoeboid sperm
• Copulatory spicules- dilate the vulva and can also serve as a canal for the
spermatozoa

CLASS: ASCARIS
• Common in many human population around the world.
• Particularly in tropical and subtropical countries.
• Likes warm summers with high rainfall.
• Small amount- allergic reaction
• Large amount- cough, chest pain, digestive dissorders

CLASS: HOOKWORM
• By walking barefoot
• In soil contaminated with feces.
• Effects are- itchy rash, diarrhea, stomach pain, cramps, nausea, low red
blood count (aka anemia)

• Mosquitos give them to humans through there bites
• Thickens skin and underlining tissues due to blockage of the vessels of the
lymphatic system

OTHER PHYLUM FACTS
• Called roundworms- bodies are cylindrical in shape
• Nematodes live in the soil, water, and animals
• Parasites- organisms that live on or in an organism of another species. Harms
the host as it obtains nutrients

IMPORTANT ADVANCEMENT
• Nematodes were the first to have a body cavity
• Separates the parts of the organism into different areas
