JUST FOR KIDS JUNIOR – SECTION General Rules for Junior Section: Exhibitor must be16 years old and under. Must list age on entry tag. Only one entry allowed in each class. Articles are to be made by exhibitor, during the past year. The Fair management will take every precaution against loss and breakage or theft but will not be responsible should such occur. FLOWER – DIVISION I Flowers should be healthy, strong and free of injury. Potted plants must be established, with damaged leaves removed. Please check plants for disease and insects. All entries must be grown by the exhibitor. Flowers should be of uniform size and good color. Cut flowers are to be exhibited in clear glass jars with leaves removed below water line. Variety of rose should be on entry tag, if known. In specimen classes, choose identical flowers for uniformity. Terms commonly used in the cut flower department: Bloom – The flower of a plant, a blossom. Stem – A stalk which supports a leaf, flower or fruit. Spray – A small branch or piece of some plant with its leaves and flowers attached. Spike – The flowering part of the plant in which flowers are sessile, (no stems), a long unbranched common axis. All cakes must be on a covered cardboard sheet. No box cakes mixes. Cakes should not be frosted. All pies must be in an 8” or 9” pan. They must have (2) crusts, no crumb crust allowed. No purchased crusts allowed. No egg or cream filling allowed. Immediately after the judging, all but one slice of bread, cake or pie or two cookies, etc. may be taken home.
