PRACTICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
for 5 year students in Children’s Infectious Diseases ( 2016-2017)
1. Practical skills
- know the calendar of preventive vaccinations in Ukraine;
- first aid in diphtheric laryngotracheitis;
- injection of antidiphtheric serum;
- first aid in urgent conditions for meningococcal infection (infectious-toxic shock,
swelling of the brain);
- carry out injections of drugs (subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous);
- measurement of blood pressure in a child;
- carry out a pleural puncture;
- calculate the volume of rehydration in dehydrated children;
- conduct oral rehydration in dehydrated children;
- know the infusion therapy program at exsicosis.

2. Professional skills
• identify etiological and pathogenetic factors of the most common infectious
diseases in children;
• identify the main rules of treatment of the most common infectious diseases in
children;
• identify preventive and anti-epidemic measures for the most common infectious
diseases in children;
• distinguish clinical course of the most common infectious diseases in children;
• set a preliminary diagnosis of the most common infectious diseases in children;
• identify the tactics of treatment of a children with the most common infectious
diseases;
• provide immediate assistance to critical states in the most common infectious
diseases in children;
• plan preventive and anti-epidemic measures for the most common infectious
diseases in children;
• carry out differential diagnosis and evaluate the preliminary diagnosis in the most
common infectious diseases and their complications in children.
Distinguish the clinical symptoms of emergency conditions in the most common
infectious diseases in children.
