Unique Sign Qualities and Aspects There are several unique qualities of astrology signs in Vedic astrology. In the “Universal Astrology” level 1 classes we talked about many of them. But there are two we did not discuss: “Feet” and “Appearance”. Let's explore those. Sign Feet Appearance Aries quadruped large Taurus quadruped long Gemini biped even Cancer insect bulky Leo quadruped large Virgo biped medium Libra biped medium Scorpio insect slender/hairy Sagittarius biped even Capricorn quadruped/footless large Aquarius biped medium Pisces footless medium Rasi Aspects The first aspects laid out in Brihat Parashara are Rasi Aspects – sign aspects. 1-3. Rashi Drishtis. O Maitreya, now detailed are the Drishtis, emanating from the Rashi Mesh etc. Every Movable Rashi drishties the 3 Fixed Rashis, leaving the Fixed Rashi adjacent to it. Every Fixed Rashi gives Drishti to the 3 Movable Rashis, barring the adjacent Movable Rashi. And a Common Rashi gives a Drishti to the other three Common Rashis. The Grah in a Rashi gives the same Drishti, as the Rashi (in which the Grah is) does. 4-5. Dristhis of the Grahas. A Grah in a Movable Rashi gives a Drishti to the other 3 Fixed Rashis, leaving the Fixed Rashi next to it. A Grah in a Fixed Rashi does not give a Drishti to the next Movable Rashi, but the remaining 3 Movable Rashis. The one in a Common Rashi gives a Drishti to the remaining 3 Common Rashis. Simultaneously a Grah in the Rashi, that receives a Drishti, is also subjected to the Drishti concerned. Commentary: ● The movable (cardinal) signs all aspect the fixed signs, except the one next to it. EX: Aries aspects Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, but not Taurus – the fixed sign next to it. ● The fixed signs aspect the movable signs, except the one next to it. EX: Leo aspects Libra, Capricorn and Aries, but not Cancer – the movable sign next to it ● The dual/mutable signs all aspect each other (the signs ruled by Mercury Jupiter). EX: Virgo aspects Gemini, Pisces and Sagittarius. They all aspect each other. The Chart Below has many of the Sign Traits laid out next to each other.
