PREPOSITION:
Front:
 Write the word Preposition in the title space
 Draw a picture that represents different prepositions
 Around the edge of the card, write the 5 things that prepositions do.
Back:
 Write the definition of a preposition.
 Write a preposition sentence that uses at least 6 prepositional phrases: My dog ran
out the door, around the yard, through the garden, under a bench, into the creek,
around the corner and came back home again.
NOUN:

 Write the word Noun in the title space
 Draw pictures that represent different kinds of nouns: person, place, thing, idea.
Back:
 Write the definition of a noun
 Give examples of each type of noun: common, proper, abstract, concrete, compound,
collective, possessive
VERB:

 Draw pictures that represent different verbs.

 Write the definition: “verb: a word that shows action or state of being.”
 Write the definition: “action verb: shows physical or mental action”
 Write a short sentence for physical action, and one for mental action.
 Write the definition: “Linking verb identifies or describes”
 Write a sentence using a linking verb that identifies and one that describes
 Write the definition: “Transitive verbs need an object to complete the thought”
 Write two sentences using transitive verbs. Underline the verb, circle the direct
object.
 Write the definition: “Intransitive verbs do not need an object to complete the
thought.”
 Write a sentence that has an intransitive verb.

 Write the word Adjective in the title space.
 Draw pictures that represent at least 4 adjectives.
Back:
 Write the definition: “An Adjective is a word used to modify a noun or pronoun.”
 Write a sentence using a proper adjective.
 Write a sentence using a descriptive adjective.
 Write a sentence using a quantative adjective.
 Write a sentence using a comparative adjective.
 Write a sentence using a superlative adjective.
 Underline the adjective in each sentence.
